So we think that if you have a second nintendo account you should be able to buy the DLC on that account and play off of it (since the save file should save locally to the physically copy it theoretically shouldn't matter if you switch to using it with a different Nintendo account).
Oh ok so for example if I buy the second one from my kids account, each copy will use a DLC? She already opened the DLC from her account and started playing though, so I wonder if we'll be able to still make it work?
From what we can tell from the documentation (which, admittedly, is not giving us a ton of confidence), the DLC can only be associated with one user account, so whichever user bought it, have the other one buy it, and it should be able to be used again?
Did you buy it from your account and then she was the first one to play it? If so, hopefully the reverse (buying it on her account, then you playing it?) shouuuuld be possible / work?
Let us know, though. We haven't encountered this before.
Yes I bought it from my account and she is the one playing it. I'll try it and let you guys know! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out
Hi I wanted to report back on how things turned out in case anyone else asks. So when I click the game (in the console with the physical copy) I get the warning saying it can only run the DLC if I load the virtual card, and if I'm sure I want to run it as is. So I tried just running it. And it turns out that despite the warning, it did run the content. I didn't have the time to do much because I still have lots to do in the base game but the potion mission is there and I was able to start it. And my kid was able to keep playing with her copy + the DLC too. And both of us can play at the same time in multiplayer. So it seems that both copies are sharing one DLC.
