CINNA FAN'S TIPS: HIGHLIGHTS
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

Tip # 1: Character Creation
You can edit every aspect of your avatar at any time so don't stress about making the perfect one when you start!

Tip # 2: Gifting Island Residents

  • To maximise your progress & unlock more quests, use the HKIA Wiki Gift Guide!
  • For your first week, wait to gift the characters until you’re done with all your quests since you'll unlock higher level gifts by completing quests

Tip #3: Supply Runs
Try to pick up as many of these as you can find during week 1:

Tip #4: Collector Hat Nul
Wondering what to request?
Here are my recommendations!

Day 1 = Cinna Blooms
Days 2 & 3 = Sand Dollars
Day 4 & beyond = Iron

Tip #5: Crafting

  • Do NOT craft/cook more items than you need during week 1
  • Do NOT use (future item) ||Worm Tails|| to craft Sticks unless 100% necessary

Tip #6: Companion Abilities

  • Always take hellokitty Hello Kitty with you when cooking
  • Always take mymelody My Melody with you when gifting Friends (until hellokitty reaches Level 12, then take her instead)
  • Always take chococat Chococat with you when crafting

Tip #7: Critters

  • Catch critters whenever you see them! You'll need LOTS for a quest later
  • Don't worry about filling up the Nature Preserve right away. Just find the critter lists when you can & focus on other quests
  • Bush Friends are keroppi Keroppi's best levelling up gift. Check out my [tips for catching them](#1337760428775964776 message)!

Tip #8: __ Fishing__

  • You can make fish lose interest by tapping your fishing rod before it bites!
  • The regional types of Clamfish are the best fish to catch imo. They make good gifts & also give you a stick when you catch them
  • Try not to release fish with Badtz-maru unless you really need the supplies he gives. Fish can give you much more valuable items when released at the (mild Spooky Swamp spoilers) ||Fwishing Well||

Tip #9: Friendship Blossoms

  • Use any Friendship Blossoms you get to level up hellokitty mymelody & retsuko in that order of priority
  • After hellokitty mymelody & retsuko are all Level 11, use any blossoms you get to level up (unlockable character) ||Wish me mell||

Tip #10: Island Visitors

  • Be sure to add items with a Visitor's "liked" tag in their cabin to increase the chance they will visit
  • If you're short on cabins, you can put items for 2+ visitors in the same cabin as long as they aren't visiting at the same time
  • You don't have to to invite any Visitors you don't want so don't stress about setting up cabins for all of them ❤️

If you'd like more details on any of these tips, please visit the directory!

Happy vacationing! I'll see you on the island 🏝️

Like many games, one of the first things you'll do is create your avatar!

The good news is **you can change every aspect of your character at any time **so there's no need to stress about creating the perfect avatar right away! All you'll need to do is walk up to a mirror placed in your cabin or at one of the shops and you can change whatever you'd like!

In fact, many players try out lots of different avatars, so feel free to change things up & explore all the options as you play!

Also, while there are many different types of animals and colour palettes to choose from at first, you'll unlock even more colour palettes throughout the game as you level up your Friends!

GIFTING ISLAND RESIDENTS
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
As you might expect from a place called Friendship Island, levelling up your friendships with the Sanrio characters will be your main priority for your first 2-3 months in the game. Reaching new levels of friendship with the characters (aka "Friends" or "Island Residents”) is how players can unlock new quests, obtain tools, and gain new abilities.

✨When To Gift✨
For your first few days, it's a good idea to wait to gift your Friends until you’re done with all your quests. It’s tempting to gift them an item as soon as you have a gift they like, but if you wait until you finish more quests you might unlock higher level items that can level them up faster, and then you can unlock even more quests!

✨Gift Values: Hearts vs Tags✨
When you select the option to gift a Friend, you’ll only see items that have the tags they like along with how many “hearts” each item has. The hearts, however, are a bit misleading because the number of hearts a gift has doesn't always match its value for levelling up a character faster. This is because a gift's value for levelling up is determined by its number of hearts and its tags.

Confusing, I know, but don't worry! Your fellow players have got you covered ⬇️

✨Discovering The Best Gifts✨
To level up your friendships more quickly, you should give your Friends whichever gift earns you the most return gifts since the number of return gifts tells you how high of a value the gift has. You can learn which gifts these are by paying attention to how many return gifts you receive after gifting each gift, or you can check out the gift guide on the official wiki.

Personally, I highly recommend using the gift guide since you can waste a lot of time on trial & error when other fans have already done all that trial & error to help newer players just like you!

SUPPLY RUNS
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
In order to craft higher level gifts & complete quests, you’ll need to collect lots of materials by gathering them from around the island, playing mini games, and receiving them as return gifts. There are a limited number of each item scattered around the island every day and the items will only respawn at daily reset (<t:1739084400:t> your local time) or with an Island Bouquet, so it's extra important to collect the less bountiful materials.

For your first week or so, try to pick up as many of the following items as you can find:

As a secondary priority, try to pick up any Sand Dollars, Coconuts, and Sticks whenever you see them. You’ll need lots of them for various furniture, gifts, & quests!

cinnabloom Cinna Bloom Hunting cinnabloom
Once you've gotten retsuko Retsuko to level 7 & completed her quest, you'll have access to all the areas where all 7 Cinna Blooms, well, bloom! The labyrinth of rooms can be hard to navigate, but there's a fast & easy way to collect all blooms ⬇️

cinnabloom My Cinna Bloom Collection Route cinnabloom
⚠️ spoilers for Cinna Bloom locations ⚠️
||Luckily, Cinna Blooms always spawn in the exact same locations so you'll find them all on this route!

Fast travel to the upper platform of Mount Hothead (not the caldera, the one below that). Then go in the right hand door, grab the 2 blooms inside, and go out the other side. This will put you on the left platform. Grab the bloom to the left of the doors then float down to the lower centre platform. Go in the righthand door on the lower centre platform and grab the bloom inside. Then fast travel back to the upper platform and float down to the right side platform to grab that bloom. Lastly, float down to the ruins entrance to grab the last two!||

🪨 Iron Locations + Route 🪨
⚠️ spoilers for Iron locations ⚠️
||Iron is split evenly between Mount Hothead & the Crystal Caves in Gemstone Mountain, with 7 in each location. The areas are very spread out and the locations shift a bit each day, but until you [unlock later abilities](#1337760428775964776 message) you'll need to spend at least several days wandering these routes:

Mount Hothead Iron: While you do the Cinna Bloom route above, grab any Iron you see on the platforms. Then float down to the far left side of first level and pick up any Iron along the rocks between there & the Fast Travel point. The float down to the ground level to collect the Iron along the rocks between the black lava rocks on the right and the cabin on the left. There are usually 1-2 nested by the cabins there, so be sure to check closely!

Crystal Caves Iron: Fast travel to the Icy Peak Entrance point and float down to the cave entrance below. Inside the Crystal Caves, Iron is only located on the upper or lower part of a room, so I walk thru the rooms from right-to-left along these pathways:
• 🟩 Green Crystal Room: lower walking path
• 🔶 Orange Crystal Room: upper walking path
•🔺 Red Crystal Room: lower walking path
• 💗 Large Pink Crystal Room: between the door to the red room & the small pink room
• 🩷 Small Pink Crystal Room: 0-3 located along the left/bottom of the room.||
✨ Fizzy Ore Tips ✨
⚠️ spoilers for fizzy ore location ⚠️
||- After you go up & down the little hill, don't worry about going on the small left side track at the fork; it only has 6 ore (aka 1 fizzy crystal) and your time will be better spent collecting other resources.

  • You can keep the same route and never have to switch any levers again if you don't go to the left fork and use the "exit" option instead of switching the levers to exit. Exiting this way will put you back at the track entrance where you entered.||
#

⚠️ spoilers for an ability unlocked when you become Best Friends with characters ⚠️
||✨Grind Alleviation✨
And don't worry - you won't need to do daily supply runs for long since **this game has built-in grind alleviation! **

After your reach Best Friend status with any of your Friends, they will offer to collect the full amount of one item per day for you. So once you become Best Friends with Chococat, for example, you ask him to collect all the chocolate on the island for you and then pick it up from your collection box after reset.

If you gift high level items, you should become Best Friends with 3-5 Island Residents within about 2 weeks of daily playing so the grind is alleviated pretty quickly!||

COLLECTOR HAT NUL
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
On your first or second day in the game, you'll receive a special hat that you can give to one of the friendly island residents (Nuls). **This hat allows you to ask the Nul to auto-collect one (1) island material per day for you! **

This is a very useful tool since you also can use the item selection menu to check how many of each item you still have to collect. You can always view the selection menu as long as you haven't requested an item yet, so try to request an item at the end of your play session. It's also best to wait until the end of your play session to request an item since you can't pick up the item until the next day so if it turns out you need that item for a quest, you'll have to wait until reset to collect it.

✨Best Collector Hat Nul Items✨
Wondering what to request? Here's my strategy!

Day 1 = Cinna Blooms
Days 2 & 3 = Cinna Blooms or Sand Dollars
Day 4 & beyond =** Iron **
Day you find a place with 🌸 (aka ||Merry Meadow = Pollen Puffs||
Until you unlock (spoilers for location above) ||Merry Meadow's 3rd level = Worm Tails||
After you do the above, you can request Iron again

✨Why These Materials?✨
Cinna Blooms are mainly located in areas you won't have access to for at least days 2-3, but you'll need them to make good levelling up gifts for cinnamoroll Cinnamoroll & kuromi Kuromi.

Sand Dollars are plentiful but they are used for a LOT of purposes in the game so you'll pretty much always want about 50+ of them on hand just in case.

Iron is one of the most needed and least convenient items to collect in the game since it's scattered across 2 very large areas and several high-level gifts and items require them for crafting. If you have the Nul collect Iron, you can spend less time grinding and more time exploring & finishing quests ✨

⚠️ spoilers for future unlockable locations/items ⚠️
||The day after you revive the Oasis (about a week into the game) you'll discover a beautiful new area called the Merry Meadow!

For the first few weeks, you'll only have access to the lowest 1-2 levels of the Meadow and won't be able to access most of the materials found in the area. Your Collector Hat Nul, however, can go wherever they like!

Since you'll need Pollen Puffs to trade for meadows-themed items in shops and for crafting, grabbing all 50 of them on your first day will help a lot!

After that, it'll be helpful for you to stock up on Worm Tails since there are only 14 per day and you'll need a LOT of them later to upgrade your Greenhouse. With this in mind, do not use Worm Tails to craft Sticks unless absolutely necessary.||

•-• CRAFTING & COOKING •-•
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
For at least your first week, do not craft or cook more items than you need!

It’s very tempting on days 2-3 to start crafting more than is required for a quest or more than 3 gifts to give to your Friends the next day but since you'll be unlocking higher value gifts & new quests every day so you may not need as many of a crafted item as you think.

Some quests will also require you to gift Friends or craft with certain materials (and sometimes 50-100 of just one item!) and if you don’t have the materials on hand you may have to wait an entire day or more to complete the quest.

This also applies for using up materials by unlocking recipes at the cooking stations. I promise you'll be able to cook & experiment to your heart's content once you have more supplies in week 2, but just for now, try to craft only what you need for gifting or quests.

✨In-Demand Supplies✨
Below are some supplies you'll pretty much always need. I try to keep 50+ of each of these on hand:

⚠️ The following section discusses Companion Abilities. The info below is accessible after first meeting a character via the Friends app on your in-game phone so the below items are not marked as spoilers, but some players may consider them to be.

COMPANION ABILITIES

As you level up the Island Residents, you’ll unlock special abilities when you invite them to come with you (aka be your "companion") as you explore the island. Many of these abilities can speed up your game progression or help you spend less time gathering materials, so it's important to use them!

✨Best Early Game Companion Abilities✨

mymelody My Melody: Take her with you when gifting Friends for bonus return gifts (unlocked @ level 5) and when unlocking cabins for a discount on strawberry crates (unlocked @ level 9)

hellokitty Hello Kitty: Take her with you when cooking for a chance of bonus items. After she reaches level 12, take her with you when gifting Friends to level up friendships 10% faster

chococat Chococat: Take him with you when crafting for a chance of crafting additional items (unlocked @ level 5)

pochacco Pochacco: Take him with you on supply runs for a walking speed boost (unlocked @ level 8)

hangyodon** Hangyodon:** Take him with you when swimming for a speed boost (unlocked @ level 5)

•-• CRITTERS •-•
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
Once you craft your net,** try to catch critters whenever you see them.** It may seem silly after a while, but trust me: you’ll need lots of critters for a quest later on and you'll wish you’d been catching them all along!

Also don’t worry about adding all the critters to the Nature Preserve right away. It's not required to unlock any other quests and you can catch all the critters & add them at any time. You'll get (Nature Preserve achievement rewards) ||a few regional bonus supplies for donating X amount of critters or all the critters from a region regardless of when you achieve the goals.||

✨A Very Sneaky Critter✨
One of the best critters to catch in your first few days is also one of the most elusive. Bush Friends are the best early-game levelling up gift for keroppi Keroppi, but can be hard to catch because they're so sneaky & fast!

Since the high hedge maze walls are so high, Bush Friends often spawn in spots are hard to see until you're right next to them. Newer players often get frustrated trying to find and catch them since the little critters tend to startle and vanish before you can even swing your net and then you have to wander around until the next one spawns and hope you don't scare that one away too.

Once you level up keroppi Keroppi, you'll unlock his Critter Calmer (level 6) or Critter Friend (level 9) companion ability and catching Bush Friends will be much easier but until then, here are my tips!

The most reliable way I've found to catch them without scaring a bunch away is to walk on top of the hedge maze walls & sneak up behind them. To get on top of the walls, you can use the small rock at the back entrance/exit of the hedge maze near the tree by the river to hop up, or use the side of the large hill nearby that leads up to the upper level with cabins (though this is less convenient). If you still have your treasure chests at the back of the maze, you can climb on those too!

That said, walking along the narrow walls can be a bit tricky to get the hang of so if you get too frustrated, don't worry! There's a also good fish you can gift Keroppi instead.

•-•-• ʚ♡ɞ •-•-•
FISHING
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

✨Fishing Tips✨
There are lots of fishing guides about how to fish and since this is mainly a strategy guide not a mechanics guide I won't be covering all that here. But I do have one important tip about fishing mechanics that some guides leave out...

While fishing in areas with multiple types of fish, you can make a fish you don't want lose interest by tapping the fishing rod before it bites. Doing this will also bring your bobber closer to you, which will make the time you have to spend reeling in a fish shorter too!

✨The Best Fish to Catch✨
The regional types of Clamfish are the real MVPs of this game. They make good levelling up gifts for several characters and each clamfish you catch also gives you a stick. This is a fantastic benefit since you will need literally thousands of sticks to make craft-able items throughout the game. So, in my opinion, the only real benefit of fishing any other type of fish besides clamfish is to complete quests or the Fishing Goals Achievements.

After you get your fishing rod and discover the Crystal Caves and Cozy Islands, try to catch about 30 Briny Clamfish and 20 Cavern Clamfish during your first few days.

Briny Clamfish are one of the best levelling up gifts for hangyodon Hangyodon so you can use them all the way until he's level 15. Cavern Clamfish are a good starter gift for pekkle Pekkle since they can help supplement your limited supply of his best starter gift, Stacked Stones.

***✨To Bog or Not to Bog✨ ***
Generally speaking, you don't really have to catch Bog Clamfish, but it's a good idea if you want the things they help you get! Bog Clamfish are a great source of sticks since their pond is so small and lets you catch a ton of fish very quickly due to the short reel lengths. The most ideal spot is the little bit of water between the dock & the graveyard exit. Bog Clamfish are also a good levelling up option for keroppi Keroppi if you have a hard time catching Bush Friends.

⚠️ The following section contains some game spoilers for Hangyodon's Level 8 quest, "When You Fwish Upon a Fwish"

✨Badtz-maru vs ||The Fwishing Well||✨
While you can release fish with Badtz-maru, I only recommend doing that if you really really need a regional supply like sand dollars or shinies before the end of the day, like for buying something in your shops.

If you have any extra clamfish once you unlock higher level gifts for the characters mentioned above, just hang onto them until you unlock ||the Fwishing Well — no, that's not a typo, it's a fish wishing well 😂||

||Generally speaking, it's more worth it to use the Fwishing Well to release fish since the items you receive from Badtz are plentifully available around the island, but you can only earn Fwishing Well-exclusive items from the Fwishing Well or other players in multiplayer.||

FRIENDSHIP BLOSSOMS
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•

✨Blossom Basics✨
There are a lot of really excellent guides on here about how Friendship Blossoms work and can be obtained, so definitely check those out if any of the below info seems confusing!

✨Who Needs Your Blossoms Most?✨
How you use your Friendship Blossoms entirely depends on what's most important to you in the game (story, decorating, multiplayer, etc).

If you're like me and you want to progress the main story & unlock new areas/tools faster, any Friendship Blossoms you get should be used to level up hellokitty Hello Kitty, mymelody My Melody, and retsuko Retsuko, in that order of priority.

After those 3 characters are each at level 11, then save any blossoms you get until 3 days after you complete My Melody's level 11 quest, Revive the Oasis, (mild spoilers explaining why you'll want to do this) ||because you'll welcome a new character to the island who will need all your blossoms and then some.||

ISLAND VISITORS
•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•-•
While Visitors are a super fun part of the game, you don't get access to inviting them right away so don't worry about them too much if you're just starting out ❤️

✨Visitor Basics✨
There are a lot of really excellent guides in here about the mechanics of getting Visitors, so definitely check out those guides if any of the below info seems confusing!

✨Visitor Likes✨
One thing the game only sorta tells you about is that Visitors aren't guaranteed to visit just because you set up a cabin. Instead, you have a chance for them to visit each day their cabin is set up.

Thankfully, there's a way you can increase your odds: A Visitor is more likely to visit your island if you add 1-5 items with their "Liked" tag to their cabin. This is sometimes referred to as their "hearts" since you'll see 0-5 hearts next to their name under the luggage-shaped icon on the left while decorating their cabin depending on how many liked items you’ve added. You can check what each Visitor's liked tag is on the HKIA wiki or by selecting them on the Visitors app on in your in-game phone and identifying the tag icon below their picture. If you can't identify the tag from the icon, you can find it on the tags page on the wiki!

✨Swapping & Doubling Up Cabins✨
Wondering about where to place all your visitors? Are your strawberry crates feeling tired & overworked? Fear not!

If you're short on empty cabins or only have one of an item required by multiple visitors, you can double up a cabin with items for 2 or more visitors that aren't visiting at the same time. You'll eventually need to separate out all the items once one of the Visitors is ready to move in, but doubling up on cabins can help you make sure you've set aside required items for Visitors that only visit once or fewer times a month without unlocking so many cabins right away.

You'll also be able to swap a visitor into a new cabin super easily later on so the cabin you place them in initially doesn't matter too much (unless they need to be in specific region as part of their requirements, of course).

✨Choosing Visitors✨
With almost (spoiler for the amount) ||50|| Visitors available in the game, it's important to remember that** you don't have to invite any Visitors you don't want! **

When considering whether to spend time setting up a Visitor Cabin, ask yourself:

  • Do I like this character?
  • Do I need this Visitor as a Resident to unlock a quest, area, or other Visitor I want? (this info can be found on their wiki page)
  • Do I need this Visitor's gift?
  • Am I a completionist who wants to have every Visitor?

If you answered no to all of the above, then don't worry about inviting that particular Visitor! If you answered yes to any of the questions, then by all means, set up a cabin and plan for a visit!
