Okay <@&1335341672619442186> folks, we're opening our black flower bounty game up to all platforms! Check above for April's bounties!

We're trying to unlock the color BLACK :black_circle: for flowers!

Each month, we'll release a few images of flowers from real life ( or very obviously photoshopped images, TBD, we're all in this together).

The community then has The Whole Month to try and recreate that flower to the best of their ability within Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Each unique successfully recreated flower gets the community A POINT towards unlocking the color black.

Unique Success

Let's say we release a picture of a reddish-pink mum. Three people post a Red Penstemum, two people post a Coral Penstemum, and one person posts a Hot Pink Penstemum. At the end of the month, Sunblink decides the Red and Hot Pink penstemums both count, so we would award TWO POINTS to the community (one for each unique solution).

It will. Some promo images have had a gray flower in them.

From what I understand, they decided against mixing black and gray with other flowers because some of them would have been very visually similar and also because going from 27 to 55 different colors per flower type would be overwhelming for some people.

So we won't be able to mix black with other colors like we can with white? And we're getting the color gray too? Or am I getting things confused... I imagine to get gray we'd have to mix black and white

I was hoping to have a darker color purple in game since violet isn't dark enough

I think it will be black + white = gray, but other than that, no mixing black with any flower colors.
Otherwise, it would have ended up like this:

Ohh I thought it'd be just black. But if mixing gray as well then yeah that is a lot of colors. Personally I think more colors is more fun since you don't have to breed every flower color and I wanted a darker purple, but I can see how for some people it'd be stressful

It was also an issue of making them meaningfully differentiable -- there were a lot of colors where we couldn't get them to read uniquely -- especially in blends where we already have some issues with color differentiation. If you can't tell the difference, then it's a big mental overhead / completionist nightmare for not a lot of aesthetic / self-expressive reward.

Thanks! Seems odd that games threads would be tied to a single platform, but maybe they were set up before the other platforms existed 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think the devs didn't want to stress other platforms by comparison with what established Arcade gardeners had access to. They wanted to give everyone time to unlock more flowers and get more colors/patterns, especially in February.

Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. Of course, that's also why I wouldn't want to add the Arcade role to be able to see the flower game stuff; don't want a pile of Arcade channels I wouldn't use and would have to avoid for spoilers 😦 Wish there was a separate role we could opt in to see the games but not the rest of the Arcade channels.

On discord you can hide any channels you want to. But it would be some work after you added the Arcade role to go through and hide all the ones you don’t want. (I’m in a server in which I had to hide the politics channel because I couldn’t clicking on it, but it always made me too mad.)

To start us off with Flower Bounty 9, our lovely Marigold flowers, there were so many of y'all excited to show off variants of our in game Marigold flowers~

We ultimately went with @ruby sable @halcyon cradle and @zinc relic 's variation of BEAUTIFULLY VIBRANT Red & Orange Trim Marigolds! 🎉

Moving forward to the mystical and magical Bounty 10: Bright Blue and Honey Orange Roses

So many Gardeners went out of their way to come up with unique and captivating flowers, but ultimately-- @cedar pecan 's Orange & Sky Trim Rose caught our eye

Enjoying the creativity in utilization of different patterns and even flower types, I want to shout out @ruby sable and @atomic shadow as our special mentions, bringing us to ANOTHER 3 added points

Did you know, there are over 100 species of tulips? Which brings us to Bounty 11! White tulips with a hint of pink~ 🌷

Look at this BEAUTY-- @candid crow 's Cream & Hot Pink Trim Tulias. This one was straight up magical for me. The attention to detail, and when referencing the image, I can definetely see the cream and warm tones coming from Bounty 11. 🎉 Great work

Alright,,, there were some really great options with pink, hot pink, and magenta variants. We're going to have to give mentions to @slim venture and @fierce cloak 's flowers that met the vision.

To start us off-- we're going over Flower Bounty 13, a beautiful dark purple ish magenta ish flower with a white center

There were actually many interesting submissions for this one, ultimately decided to go with..

Halfway through, now we're to the cute n graphic Flower Bounty 15, a bright red flower with white stripes

Decided to go with @mild sluice 's Red & White Striped Hibiscus~ Look at that beautifully detailed flower shape! 💖

We're trying to unlock the color BLACK :black_circle: for flowers!

Each month, we'll release a few images of flowers from real life ( or very obviously photoshopped images, TBD, we're all in this together).

The community then has The Whole Month to try and recreate that flower to the best of their ability within Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Each unique successfully recreated flower gets the community A POINT towards unlocking the color black.

Unique Success

Let's say we release a picture of a reddish-pink mum. Three people post a Red Penstemum, two people post a Coral Penstemum, and one person posts a Hot Pink Penstemum. At the end of the month, Sunblink decides the Red and Hot Pink penstemums both count, so we would award TWO POINTS to the community (one for each unique solution).

Now we had a LOT of very cool variations on this one. but in the end FIRST PLACE had to go to~ @median otter and @ruby mauve with their Sky & Orange Ombre Ghostgleam!

The colored stem really played a big role in the end decision.

We're trying to unlock the color BLACK :black_circle: for flowers!

Each month, we'll release a few images of flowers from real life ( or very obviously photoshopped images, TBD, we're all in this together).

The community then has The Whole Month to try and recreate that flower to the best of their ability within Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Each unique successfully recreated flower gets the community A POINT towards unlocking the color black.

Unique Success

Let's say we release a picture of a reddish-pink mum. Three people post a Red Penstemum, two people post a Coral Penstemum, and one person posts a Hot Pink Penstemum. At the end of the month, Sunblink decides the Red and Hot Pink penstemums both count, so we would award TWO POINTS to the community (one for each unique solution).
