The the smart splitter with a lot of parcels have a high change to send packages in reverse back to where it come from, this does also happen with few parcels as well, but very uncommon when load is small.
Just make a circle the smart splitter does not just send it straight through as you believe it should.

So smart splitter has 1 input and 3 outputs. Looking at the leg of the smart splitter in your screenshot, your smart splitter is placed in a way that the conveyor on the right is feeding to an output of the smart splitter
Please check when you place the smart splitter, the arrow on the "ghost" should face in this direction

I could not replicate it and seems to work as intended when used correctly. It only does the thing when you try using the output as input. I would be nice if other players could help look into it. But until then, all I want is to make the smart conveyor to be made clearer it only has 1 input and 3 outputs. Also would be cool to be able to toggle that you can have two inputs and two outputs and then flip/rotate to get wished outcome.
