Trying to make a server for me and my friends.

heyo heyo, I am desperatly trying to host a server for my friends using my IP and all that jazz, but i keep running into the same error when I start up the server and try to connect:

Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: io.netty.handler.codec.EncoderException: java.io.IOException: Root tag must be a named compound tag

has anyone else experienced this? haven't been able to find a solution on forums.

I am using the cursed forge launcher

This error is common with corrupt data

Curseforge sucks

Try prism or ATlauncher

Less likely to corrupt data

But while we’re at it you should also change ur Java to be the Azul Zulu JDK17 if u want the best of the best

now i cant even get the Java -jar server.jar to launch.
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

it cant seem to locate the Jar file

Just run the start.bat file.

Is azul generally improving Java performance? So on client side as well?
