Can I use e4mc in a dedicated server since my network is a cgnat and I don't have an IP. If I can how?

should be able to just run it like normal, in the console it'll still give you a link to share

#

i exclude it from server files because it's not supposed to be a dedicated solution, so you'll need to grab it from curseforge or your local instance

i recommend using playit.gg instead of e4mc for servers if you are self-hosting from a home computer. i believe you can use it for free and if you pay for it you can use your own domain. it may require some technical knowledge but its fairly simple.

bonus is that you arent bleeding your ip to those who join.

I think I'm getting somewhere, playit.gg looks to be a good call, I can't believe I'd never heard of it

#

is their a server pack out for the 2.1.1 NC version yet?

#

or is it just the same as before?

#

Probably gotta wait. all additional file(s) uploads get sent for review

which ip address goes into the server.properties file?

#

i'm guessing the local one that playit.gg is telling me?

void iron
#

you dont need to put a server ip in the properties, infact i advice against it since your ip will always change.
you should instead install and have playit.gg run in the background

#

i always leave the ip empty in the properties

it connected through 🎉

#

will playit.gg essentially just pass it through to the running minecraft server instance?

#

i have the 127.0.0.1 from the playit.gg cmd window in server.props atm

void iron
#

it looks something like this?

red smelt
#

yes exactly

void iron
#

well nothing could go wrong with 127.0.0.1 in the server prop it is the same as leaving it empty or having 'localhost'

red smelt
#

that actually makes a lot of sense

#

does playit change the domain that connects people often?

void iron
#

i am unsure. as im using a domain name. chances are that it could change

red smelt
#

hopefully it's not too often then, my isp from back home would change our public ip every month

#

i've also been setting up anydesk so I can login and fix it from my laptop whilst home if need be

void iron
#

i think even if the domain changed, just running playit.gg would show you the new domain address so you could easily copy and paste it. you could also view the new address on the website too. as for your ISP changing your address, there is no need to worry. playit.gg is essentially a reverse proxy. the application tells playit.gg "hey im right here" and shows the "password" to playit.gg. playit.gg sees it and goes "cool".
