Ideas are plentiful. I have 1000 good business ideas in any given week. My mum says they're great. Have I earned millions of dollars? No. Again. Find something people actually have a PROBLEM with. More often than not its a really boring industry, e.g bookkeeping for doctors or some other niche. Something those people don't want to do and would rather pay you than spend their own time on. When you find customers and a problem, everything else follows

R&D is a really bad idea unless you actually have revenue. Believe me, I've burned my fair amount of time in building things. Unless you're already solving a problem that someone is willing (and in fact) paying for you, spending months of development time is a really terrible idea

I've seen hundreds if not thousands of startup enterpreneurs fail at exactly this. They build products that sound good on paper. When it comes down to the day of selling something, they fall flat

Just look up reddit's business ideas section and you get why pretty quickly 😄

Actually, this competition for those ones that have access to Gov + Big pharms scripts. Already have the solution ready. I was compiling some simple scripts here. The key is just change the logic, compare to all millions of Python scripts, data banks about anything you can imagine.

I was running for fun some scripts, models( srcipts.py) and run on local machine to see the approach of old solutions, updates, Data banks & compared to the challenge perspective. The most complex on genomics development on 2001 +- was computer process unit, Graphics cards, Internet and storage.

Most solutions was already accomplished since 2004. Just using math and science applied on Python( whiteout machining learning). No need AI+ ML to some stuffs.

They just apply the strong knowledge on Microbiology, enzymology, physiology + tons of $$$ to dock the exact sequence in most biological compounds.

ML nowadays yes. Because the amount of data and solutions is impossible to delivery if you dont use ML models.

AI is not so useful ( Yet) to predict deterministic things like Docking( probability based on pure math, science and Statistics). Ai usually hallucinate. ML don´t. ML Will get the similarity and values to 0 or 1.

If a molecule must have exactly value( or the best one possible), on the position X,Y,Z( matrixial vector spaces) , with others numerical descriptors as Solubility, base pairs, dipole momentum, angle, Isoelectric Point , residuals charges, proteins, enzymes as ligases A, B, etc etc... IA can´t do nothing.

Some tips about the Stanford challenger:

1. Bioinformatics even are teaching on master degree. Most are just copy and past python with one single biopython or correlated stuffs. Just get and set.
