We just published a paper on Zenodo proposing a new architecture: TOPAS (Theoretical Optimization of Perception and Abstract Synthesis).

I am doing an assignment where I am provided the bid and ask price quotes for the trade of a single currency pair from 5 different liquidity providers every 10 seconds for 21 days. i.e. I have a dataset with columns timestamp, lp_id (liquidity providers id), side (bid/ask or hughest they are willing to pay to buy the fx/lowest they are willing to accept to sell the fx), price (the quoted price), and size (this is the notional value).

I need to create a model that can generate bid/ask prices that attracts both buyers and sellers as well as maintains profitability. Never done anything like this before so I am a bit stuck on how to approach this.

I have created new features which for each trading day characterize the market share of each lp as a binary string, I will also build a feature that for each day characterizes their bid vs ask efficiency.

I also have a trade data file which contains columns for timestamp, side (buy/sell), size, and an external vs internal flag. This can help me reconstruct external market liquidity and internal inventory. So I should try to employ a strategy that manages the inventory efficiently, identifies market patterns and reduces risks. I am not at all sure how to integrate this into the model.

Given all this input, how do I get to the output of bid and ask prices at each time stamp for multiple size levels. I was thinking some kind of regression model probably with inputs like the mid price volatility, volatility of the lp quote spread, depth imbalance, etc. maybe some gbm. Idk. And then I am not even sure if the features I wanna create that I mentioned earlier would even be useful anywhere. This is a lot to wrap my head around. Any help or pointers are appreciated! Thank you!

I have a general idea that the quote price can be probably built as a fair value + a factor of the spread volatility - inventory skew. The data is not homoscedastic so I am thinking of using gbm models instead of a linear regression. Each of those terms could be fitted as a separate gbm model maybe? Just throwing ideas out there. I am still pretty stuck.

Hi Kaggle Team,

I was fine-tuning an LLM for the Google Tunix Hack, and my training ran for almost 7 hours. After stepping away for a few hours, my session stopped due to “inactivity,” even though the model was actively training. Could you please look into this? It doesn’t make sense to interrupt long training jobs because users aren’t actively clicking. This makes it very difficult to work on other tasks while training runs. Please consider fixing or adjusting this behavior.

Submissions to this competition must be made through Notebooks. In order for the "Submit" button to be active after a commit, the following conditions must be met:

CPU Notebook <= 9 hours run-time
GPU Notebook <= 9 hours run-time
Internet access disabled
Freely & publicly available external data is allowed, including pre-trained models
Submission file must be named submission.csv

will these be assesed based on the notebook you use to train your (pre-trained) models? what if i use another source like colab pro i and just save the best models the upload to kaggle to inference, does that count as cheating or anything?

For the last 4 months, I’ve been heads-down building QuintNet—my own distributed training library built from scratch in PyTorch.

My goal was simple (and naive): Stop treating DDP and Megatron-LM as black boxes and actually understand the physics of distributed training.
It implements full 3D Parallelism (Data + Tensor + Pipeline) on a custom GPU mesh.

The "Fun" Part (aka The Struggle):
🐛 Debugging silent NCCL hangs that gave zero error messages.
📐 Chasing tensor shape mismatches across ranks in the pipeline.
🕒 Realizing that implementing 1F1B scheduling correctly is... harder than the papers say.

I finally got it to converge on a custom ViT across an 8-GPU mesh without deadlocking. 🚀

What's inside:
A custom DeviceMesh implementation.
Manual P2P communication handling for pipeline stages.
Custom Column/RowParallelLinear layers.

I wrote a detailed deep-dive on the architecture (with diagrams of the communication flow) and the code is open source. I’m now working on adding ZeRO-style optimizer sharding and would love any pointers or feedback from the systems folks here!

  • Do you support it? Against?
  • Upvoting for the sake of numbers or do you genuinely review the notebooks, writeups, submissions?
  • Is coding now a popularity contest?

With the completion of the Google-Kaggle-5DayAI-capstone, and now that I'm also venturing into some of the other competition channels, I'm seeing a lot of these posts. Although some are not outright using the term "you upvote mine and I'll upvote yours" but more couched with phrases like "please review and give it a vote and I'll also take a look at yours.". The statement suggests an implicit reciprocal arrangement (a quid pro quo).

I mean, we are all here learning about developing AI apps, LLM apps, Agentic apps, etc. We need to place security, privacy, ethical guardrails in our apps, among other things. But yet, we're the ones doing this? Isn't this quid pro quo practice what leads to all the AI Slop sloshing around out there, the mindset I mean? How the most hateful posts get the most reactions? And I could go on and on and on.

So do you all have an opinion on this practice? Let it be or point it out? Don't you think it needs to be discouraged? Or shame and blame? Well, maybe not to that extreme. But I feel like we need to model the behaviour we want to see. And I'd rather have an app that is useful, rather than one which is popular any day. A useful tool would become popular over time, in a natural progression. A popular one that is thrash would be forgotten in a few days.

We've worked hard to create a system that rewards really good and interesting work - but it's pretty difficult to do. Most of our progression system (https://www.kaggle.com/progression/about) is about real accomplishments, not attempts at popularity. It doesn't help a project in our judging to be highly voted. I totally agree that it's way better to spend your energy improving your machine learning than asking other people for upvotes.

Yes, having the progression markers like Badges is a fun milestone to aim for. It is all this gamifying the learning journey each platform has.
But people get so hung up on the upvote numbers and the number of kudos, the badges one gets (or not get as the case maybe). I guess as with everything, it differs from person to person. The caring about them, I mean.

I think that the way society has worked recently - especially with things like influencer culture where popularity really IS the currency - makes it hard for people to understand the value of true accomplishment and connection. It's not a Kaggle problem per se, but I think it shows up here. Hopefully we can help people see the value - and joy! - in becoming truly more capable of doing meaningful and interesting things!

It seems you've not grasped what I'm talking about. What matters the most is that the whole competition zone is monopolized by the fewest who are also in the highest in terms of skills. They entered kaggle 4 to 12 years ago. It makes it an unfair game where the competition should occur between peoples who entered ~same years ago. At least some competitions should put such restrictions in place to establish a fair environment.
