#Thoughts on damage shields?

ohhh, I missed that, thanks I'll take a look!
yeee already exists
@ashen adder I think thats the "mitigate damage" damage shield, not an ouchie one
nope thats the ouchie one
So +40 damage shield means attacker takes 40 damage on melee strike?
yes
Do npc defenses mitigate it at all?
ye my combat log is the mob taking 40 (I only have 40DS on my tnak rn)
nope doesnt appear too
no mitigation opportunity
cool!
Looks like it's implemented as a weapon proc and an aura. no castable spells unless I'm missing something
correct afaik rn
This is one of the last pieces for my mod that will fully recreate the EQ druid experience, with most of the original spell lines represented and worked into the Erenshor spell progression. I'm nostalgia-ing my pants here
I was so confused about damage shield not being mitigation.. I'm too much of a wowhead 😩
this ended up being really easy to implement. yay!
For clarity there are two different things being confused here.
Absorb Shield spells (ie bubble): is a shield spell that adds a certain amount of protection, preventing/blocking up to X damage then breaks. This is already in the game. see Magical Skin 1/2. https://erenshor.wiki.gg/wiki/Magical_Skin_II
Damage Shield also known by other games as a thorns effect. When the enchanted person is hit, it causes damage to the one striking them. This is also in the game through multiple different effects. See Sivakaya's Touch or Ancient Presence. https://erenshor.wiki.gg/wiki/Sivakaya's_Touch_(Effect)
