I'm not sure if this is a working as intended moment, but If you as an arcanist player charm a mob and then use the option to break the spell, the Sim players in your party will ignore it until ordered to attack even if you start attacking it and cast spells on it or if the mob inevitably starts attacking you.

sort of a gray area, i wanted you to be able to recharm your mob without your friends killing it, but neither way really feels 'right'

That's fair.

I can understand that if it breaks naturally, but if I chose to break its usually because I'm intending to kill it

Commanding them to attack it is the simplayer equivalent to "/group kill pet plz." In eq you wouldn't kill a charmed pet unless instructed to do so.

I can see a scenario where one might voluntarily break the charm and then recharm the mob because you intend to refresh the charm because you know or you think it is close to breaking.

TBH in my play style, I don't rely on charming one mob and then moving through the dungeon. I just use it as a metho of CC to break a camp and them move on so i don't have to deal with constantly refreshing the charm.

My main point would be not having to push two buttons. I think a happy medium would just be a toggle button in the group roles
