I’m going according to the beginner guide and it tells me to 2A Kro and replace him with Veromos when I get him.
I already have Veromos without 2Aing Kro, should I still 2A Kro?
Is he useful for later on or should I save the time and resources to 2A him and just use Veromos?

you're allowed to read further in beginner guides than the exact step you are doing right now
and just in general - there is not a single "temporary unit that will be replaced later" in #guides
every single recommended unit at any point or any step in the guide is still useful in the end. the only exception is stuff like shannon, which is why we recommend to keep her at 5*
