I recently started playing this again as used but my friends are just doing a pve play through

Most are just playing pve now. PVP is awful now. I played 10 wipes and no reason to continue until 1.0 is out.

AI actually is much better (tame) now in PVE at least the past few months, they don't insta-lock you and all that which is nice

Typical Tarkov... always that handful of cheaters. I haven't touched the game in quite awhile, PVP even longer. Looks like hardcore wipe coming today but 1.0 release won't be for awhile still

I like the idea of making it a bit more "hardcore" as the core mechanics and such has basically stayed the same (minus additions of new mechanics like thirst/hunger, movements, etc)

make AI more harder, item pricing and availability more limited. Hate that hideout item requirements more demanding but i never got into hideout building and crafting...

Me and @cloud elm were laughing at how easy these "hackers" are cheating on EFT, was watching people on dlive duping items in PvP raid since they don't ban for that content. And he was using cheat engine...

I think the only way to play is PvE at that point.

PVE is almost the same as PVP (minus hackers and sweaty chads) in terms of playstyles. AI has been beefed up quite a bit now to make them almost similar to real players

Gray zone looks fun ill probably look into it in the future, i was mostly interested in reducing the rng of playing by myself by having a team or even a duo willing to use real tactics (i need to learn some aswell) that know how to play the game aswell i dont have friends that fit the criteria they just wanna play like the streamers and pray they can outaim every engagement or suck too much

I know cheaters will still win but the success rate when i sorta forced some friends to do basics like security and basic cover to cover and clearing it was really successful even killed suspected cheaters with prefire in buildings

outside of covering corners and some very basic cqb tarkov mimics the real world. the best way to clear a room you know somone is in is to toss frags into it. the best way to ensure you kill a guy charging you is everyone shoots him, etc

I love it, you can skip it and continue down the old quest path, but the story behind each quest is great. The flea is now level locked based on the items. You get access at 15, but limited use. Many items are lvl 20, 25, or even 30 to force you to find them.

On the surface it seems more of a pain than it actually is. I just unlocked woods and prapor, for the most part it’s just enter map, leave map except for the mechanic quest and he wants you to take out two guns which is super easy to do

I have a feeling as the progression goes on and the base content is unlocked that the main story quests will start to get more involved, but I’d be shocked if they were as much of a ball ache as jaeger stuff

My assumption is based on the last interview with Nikita that the “hard” endings to unlock are probably relevant to completing all side quests, kappa, and having good rep with random characters like BTR driver, fence, and light keeper

Just speed through the storyline quest to unlock all maps. Most requirements are just "go to map & extract" unless there are some minor requirements needed

the major quests prior to 1.0 release are now "side quests" so they dont contribute to the storyline, but nice rewards and such. As most people say, "learn the maps" but the major points to this is learning Spawn Points, Extracts, chokepoints/hotspots for fights, and then after awhile the loot areas

AFAIK completing the main story is a requirement for prestiging on PVP now anyways

due to no actual XP rewards or benefits from rushing the story, i'm personally just grinding away and treating it as normal and finding story stuff as i come across it. i'd imagine the most difficult ending is the one where you knock out kappa and all the quests with positive rep for lk, fence, & btr driver so i'll get to it when i get to it

AI PMC roaming sucks on PVE. They are either predictable/in very specific areas or never roaming enough. I seen some that spawn in Idea, then camp around for 15 minutes before moving

Was in a raid with my friend, both our games froze and we both got disconnected

I reconnected immediately, game started to load me in, then said game was cancelled

friend loaded in, found me dead surrounded by like 4-6 scavs

there were no scavs around when my game froze, and I was only gone for something like 20 seconds maybe

In the past, you insure it, you get it back in local matches. This wipe it was broken and never seen a weapon come back.

In bsg servers, anything a scav or pmc picks up is gone. Putting your weapon in the 2nd slot instead of 1st ensures that you will get it back 100% of the time.

the takeaway I get from videos like this is that if you're using dogshit tier ammo your personal skill needs to be way higher as compensation for that

Like if you're using 10 pen ammo, you need to be either identifying armour coverage areas and hitting areas that arent covered like the groin or stomach, or going for leg shots, or going for something like throat shots or face shots

cause I know some armoured chest rigs only cover the thorax/stomach and leave the throat and groin exposed

That's kinda been my general experience rocking the PP19 with Pst ammo, I can absolutely slap with it and I have been doing so, but it really starts to show its weakness if I'm not hitting those headshots

and it doesn't have a terribly high flesh damage number so trying to leg meta tagilla a week or two ago was a terrifying fight and i nearly got schwacked by him

Leg meta used to be a real thing until they adjusted how damage is calculated with blacked limbs long ago - not to say it still exists and can be done properly. Tarkov truly is a wonder with how damage is done and you can easily win fights with cheap gear and ammo if you know what you are doing and know how to fight. Face/headshots will always be the target regardless of ammo because its always has no cover (minus some masks).

The game balances out that way, super chads arent some player that cant be defeated. There is always a way to defeat them, granted they have a higher chance of survival but some people know how to work around that

Armor provides coverage against ammo, depending on armor class and pen-value of ammo. You can still get hurt (if ammo pens) and damage depends on how much pen the ammo does. The math goes over my head, but obviously certain ammo has its own probability of penetrating armor, loses some damage after pen to deal flesh damage

lot of calculations but that is the general overview of how ammo and armor works - least my thats to my knowledge

The way I was told basically has it break the pen value into two separate numbers, sorta how the waterproofing IP system works

so if an ammo has a pen value of 24, it guarantees pen of level 2, with a 40% chance of penning level 3

Someone mentioned there is also the chance to "over-pen" someone too. Ammo with high armor pen and low flesh damage, you may deal less damage hitting a body part not protected and the ammo basically does nothing
