Honestly, after crewing the Idris all day yesterday, I think I like the Polaris better. More maneuverability for the ship as well as the turrets, and the laser doesn’t seem all that effective right now. Idris makes for a great fighter base, but I think it’s not the best in direct combat, gotta have those fighters to screen you

Arrow is more maneuverable and has that turret to keep stuff under fire even off bore but does less dps. It’s got lower signature too and when more stealth comes in the arrow is “stealthy” but not stealth. Just low rcs. The gladius is a bit less maneuverable and more rcs but is higher dps and durable.

Arrow has a dual s1 turret on its back. It’s more like a super movable mount as it has a really good arc. They said that eventually you’ll be able to put an AI blade in it and it can fire at something that’s behind you for fire at missiles coming at you.

performance for me has been really good so far, the capitals and multiple sub caps in the game have been cool for larger operations. we ran some 20+ player ops and patrols with full crew in the idris plus a fighter screen and scout craft both out front 1 jump out and a trail guy that stayed behind after a jump to watch for followers

Spent most of yesterday doing hauling runs from area 18 to the bajini. For like 50k per mission did like 6-7 missions per run. There was loads. Was easy money using my star lancer max. Its bit janky loading boxes but was a good amount of space. Thinking of getting the Tac outright it's a nice combat jack of all ship. I really like the side turrets and also the rear missile launcher.

if you find legs for example, drop everything from the looted enemy's legs first, swap all your items over that are equipped to your legs, drop your legs, equip their legs. Best method I've found. If you mess up that process you basically have to fight it to get back to doing that same thing over again

It took me logging quite a few hours on the VKB dual stick to get a feel for them. I used them, got mad, went back to HOTAS, and then forced myself to use them again. For me personally, VKB duals feel better with light fighters. For anything big HOTAS felt more natural.

Well have have an omni throttle so I'm not stressed about big rig feel on slow turning boats; more just having a hell of a time getting controls for the game set up, I was going to use the set from BuzzKill as I previously used his T16k setup for Elite Dangerous, but the shits been buggy on install, on-foot controls seemed to be missing for things like interaction etc, and it just got really annoying really fast.

then navigating StarCitizens menus to go and tweak things myself turned out to be an excecise in making sure you hate yourself and everyone around you, as they are utterly attrocious.

you can get a ship and the game in a pack as well

the cutty black is good, or the cutter is a great starter

You can also buy ships with in-game money once you own the game, so you're not stuck only with your first ship. Plus you can 'melt' your ship so you get the money back that you paid for the ship in store credit, which you can then use to upgrade to a newer one once you're committed to the game. I think it's a pretty neat system.

I personally went for the Titan, but it was a close call for me between that one and the Cutter that Dibdin mentioned.
