V-SYNC BROKEN

It seems like in the last demo update the " v-sync " option does nothing, the fps still goes higher than the display limit ( in my case 60hz ), and the screen tears rapidly. Forcing the V-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel won't solve the problem.

Have you tried deleting engine.ini and gameusersettings.ini from C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Dreamcore\Saved\Config\Windows

and redo the config?

Yes, i tried removing the whole game's directory, reinstalling the game, i even tried modifying the " Use V-Sync setting " in the gameusersettings.ini to " True ", but there's no effect - what i have noticed, is that the " Use V-Sync " variable always changes to " False " no matter how many times i'll change it via settings or in the game's files.

How can i redo the config, as you said? I tried everything, but the game remains unplayable - the Nvidia Control Panel also refuses to do anything.

I also tried searching for an older build of the game - i wanted to back up the older version - but there was nothing i could find on the net. I wonder, if there's a way to get an older version somehow, but to be honest, i would love to have this silly bug fixed in a such great game!

@sharp rivet Hi once again! I am here to provide very fun details about the V-Sync problem i just found!

For some reason, V-Sync works just fine on 1024x600 resolution - the FPS stays at 60, no screen tearing at all. But this resolution is a little bit weird, it isn't 16:9 aspect ratio i suppose. As soon as i set the resolution on 1280x720 or higher ( any 16:9 aspect ratio ) - V-Sync dies completely, screen starts to tear apart like hell and nothing helps.

I hope this info will help you to solve this weird problem! Sorry, if i am being annoying to you with my dumb problem, i just want this game to work again 😢

I have already updated my NVIDIA drivers, i double checked everything. I mean, in the previous version V-Sync was working perfectly, on any resolution. After the last update V-Sync works only on 1024x600 resolution - which is really weird issue. V-Sync disappears as soon as I choose any other resolution, it refuses to work on any 16:9 aspect ratio resolution - which causes some difficulties: the image is not centered, it is stretched, cause 1024x600 is smth like 128:75 - and OBS records it weirdly. Of course, i can cope with playing on 1024x600, but i would like a higher resolution to be available with V-Sync

Put your settings to windowed fullscreen or whatever thats called. It helped the stretching for me 🙂

I can confirm geoxidaaaas observation. I played the game a few days ago, everything was nice and smooth and after the demo updated the screen started tearing. No drivers update in the meantime. But anyway, nice job, devs! The game is pretty impressive so far, looking forward to the full version! 🙂

I found a very funny way to " solve " the V-Sync issue btw, and yeah, it includes turning " windowed fullscreen " mode on:

1. Set the desired resolution in your system settings ( through Windows Control Panel, Display settings)

2. Choose " Windowed Fullscreen " mode in game settings. Idk why, but this mode causes the game to run in resolution you have chosen in your system settings, and in-game resolution choice stops doing anything - it just locks on your system display setting.

3. Now just choose the 1024x600 in the game settings. And boom, V-Sync starts to work on your desired resolution.

Very weird issue - it seems like the V-Sync was programmed to work only when 1024x600 resolution is chosen in the game's settings

I know this didn't work for everyone here, but it did for me. I have my resolution set to 1920x1080 in the game and in windows, once the vertical sync option in Nvidia control panel was set to on it would work.

I tried doing this thingy on every mode that exists there, but no. Perhaps i just have broken drivers or something like this. Btw my GPU is GTX 1650 Max-Q, but mobile ver - I play from laptop & Nvidia Control Panel never worked for me. It isn't thee first time i am having some problems with V-Sync tbh, there was a game called BETON BRUTAL & there was no V-Sync at all. Nvidia also couldn't help me there.

But at least my method works greatly for me. Now i can play Dreamcore with slightly peculiar preparations, but it works. I still think that it should be fixed before the main release

I thought it was just a feature to make it look like an old VHS tv
