I think this might be happening because you're clicking 'save' after clearing the note's settings? it looks to me like it resets properly when you hit 'clear', since the preview on the sidebar resets once you hit that, then you hit 'save' again afterwards and presumably save a pure black color that gets loaded as a default for the editor

normally, that sidebar preview only updates when you save your changes, so if it resets when you hit 'clear', it must have saved the cleared settings automatically
