HEAR ME OUT:
how about if both players agree to it, they can 1v1 on the same song on different difficulties. this means that two people of varying skill can 1v1 without the better player having to play a chart that bores them, or the worse player freaking out trying to play a chart that is way too advanced for them.
i already have a rough idea of how this could be implemented, the two players pick the same song on whatever difficulty they would like to play, and then a popup appears asking both players if they agree to do this. if they both agree, then ofc they play on their respective difficulty. if both disagree, it picks between the two randomly as usual. if one agrees and the other doesnt, it picks the difficulty of the person who agreed (encourages people to not be stubborn and let other people play the game at their own pace, if yall dont like this just make it also pick randomly between the two as usual)

ok i fr wanna understand the problem yall are seeing with this cuz i dont get it
what m i missing
how is it bad
one player plays the easier difficulty and the other one plays the harder one?
seems simple to me
how hard is it to load a different chart for a different person
It’s prob going to take lots of coding + It’ll prob break at times or not work at all
Or idk
Loading 2 different difficulties for 2 differnet people is going to break alot
ruins modcharts and special notes etc, etc
stuff based around notes is going to just
Not work
that makes no sense to me but i mean ig i gotta believe it coming from testers yall know more about this than me
@fathom sparrow can you answer this
the way i see it would be like just loading 2 solo games at the same time (oversimplified but whatever)
but then im lonely :(
im a lot better than most of my friends thats the exact problem im trying to solve here
ik im not the only one with this problem
if you dont wanna be lonely but you wanna play a solo game
Just get someone like a friend to sit on the speaker shrug_cat
who in their right mind would want to sit and watch someone play a rhythm game
theres also me wanting to get people into games like these but not wanting to sit through easy difficulties of every song
score balancing, modcharts can be different, some difficulties have different audios (erect mixes)
^
yeah so it couldnt work for things with different audios, theres probably some way to make the modcharts show up differently but not one that would be any fun to code so disable those and you could have a "max score" thats divided into all the notes buuut since it doesnt count towards wins anyways you could just leave it as is and it be fine
giving the ability to play different difficulties while getting the same score would just be extremely exploitable and make the game unfair on a gamebreaking level, just find people that will play charts that are on your level
literally how would it be exploitable theres no reward for this
you could be having an way easier time
than the other player
losing the streak could be a concern
but in general it would be insanely unfair
did you even read the actual suggestion?
