Hey!

I paid 5€ to upload credits to my account but it shows 5$ of credit.

It was a trial upload and the credit had to be 5.85$.

Anyone can help with the matter?

I need help with this matter for bigger top ups in the future.

Thanks! @granite stratus

I'm an AI assistant - my answers may be incorrect and I cannot see screenshots. Please verify information with the OpenRouter docs.

OpenRouter uses a credit system where the base currency is US dollars. All pricing and credits on the site are denominated in USD, regardless of the payment currency. This means if you pay in euros, the credited amount will be equivalent to the USD value after currency conversion and fees. Quoting the docs: "OpenRouter uses a credit system where the base currency is US dollars. All of the pricing on our site and API is denoted in dollars." OpenRouter FAQ

If you believe your credit amount is incorrect after conversion and fees, please provide:

  • The exact amount charged in EUR (after fees)
  • The credited USD amount shown in your account
  • The payment method used (Stripe, crypto, etc.)

If you need a refund or further help, contact support within 24 hours at [email protected] or reach out to the mods directly in this Discord server. See the refund policy and more details here: OpenRouter FAQ

The exact amount charged in EUR (after fees) -> 5.8€
The credited USD amount shown in your account -> 5$
The payment method used (Stripe, crypto, etc.) -> Stripe

Thank you for the details. Here’s what’s happening:

  • OpenRouter credits are always denominated in USD, even if you pay in EUR. Your payment is converted based on the current exchange rate and after deducting platform/payment fees.
  • For non-crypto payments, the current fee is 5.5% of the order amount, with a minimum fee of $0.80. For a $5 order, the new fee is $0.80, so you receive $5 in credits for a $5.80 (€5.8) payment (after conversion) Simplifying Platform Fee.
  • All payments via Stripe are processed in USD, and any extra amount you pay in EUR goes towards covering fees and conversion costs. The credited USD amount will match the post-fee, post-conversion value OpenRouter Terms.

If you believe there’s a discrepancy, or for a refund request (within 24 hours), use the refund button on your Credits page or contact [email protected]. More info: OpenRouter FAQ.

Let me know if you need further help or specific calculations for larger top-ups.

Thanks for clarifying. OpenRouter credits are always given in USD after both currency conversion and platform/payment fees are deducted.

  • The credited USD amount is calculated after all fees and conversion costs—even if the EUR amount you pay would convert to more USD before fees.
  • For non-crypto payments, there is a 5.5% platform fee (minimum $0.80) on the order Simplifying Platform Fee. Stripe and currency conversion fees may also apply, depending on your bank and card.
  • The final amount credited to your account is shown in USD after all deductions.

If you believe the amount credited is not correct based on the conversion and all fees, you should contact support for a manual review. Use the refund button on your Credits page or email [email protected] within 24 hours for further help OpenRouter FAQ.

For larger top-ups, you may want to check the fee calculator or contact support/mods in advance to confirm the expected credited value.
