hi! i just bought $10.80 worth of credits on openrouter to use with janitor AI, but i didn’t know janitor requires a pk- (public) key. i was only given a sk-or-v1 key. is there any way i can generate a pk- key?

i’d really appreciate any help! i really enjoy janitor AI and just want to be able to use the credits i paid for. thank you! 🙂

OpenRouter currently provides sk- or v1- API keys for use with their services. There is no option to generate a pk- (public) key through the dashboard. For Janitor AI or any app that specifically requires a pk- key, you may need to check with the Janitor AI support or the OpenRouter admin for compatibility or key options.

i tried putting in the sk-or-v1 key, and it kept giving me error messages back to back. i've tried almost everything and it's the only thing i can think would be the issue. i double checked with chatgpt (ew ik) and it said the same thing back to me.

it helps if you specify what error messages you get and what sources (links) say that you need a pk- key

probably, your auth key is normal and works in other contexts

it's just that janitor ai isn't quite sending it right

omfg so i just embarrassed myself for nothing. let me try a couple more times, and if not i'll see if i can contact their support team.

i'd recommend finding the janitor ai community and asking about this, they would know the best

they have a reddit and discord

you just use the api key you get from open router you don’t need a special key for it

For the proxy url it’s:

https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/chat/completions

Model name: deepseek/deepseek-r1-0528:free
deepseek/deepseek-r1-0528:free
deepseek/deepseek-r1:free

whichever you want to pick. Make sure there’s no spaces in the front or at the end as it’ll turn up as an error. And make sure to refresh the page after you add the configuration as Janitor AI requires you to refresh the page everytime you switch/add a new proxy.

Then make sure to save the settings

And then refresh. Hope that helps!
