If I purchase 10 credits, I understand that I’ll receive 1,000 API requests per day when using free models. How long do these credits remain valid, and do they expire automatically? Additionally, if I require 10,000 API requests per day, how many credits would be needed? And how would the credit requirements scale with further increases in usage?

The credits will remain valid for at least 365 days. After 365 days, OpenRouter can choose to expire them, but they have no plans to do so
You can't get 10,000 requests per day no matter how many credits you deposit. if you need more than 1,000 requests per day, you can use paid models or you can add your own API key for the free providers
Can you share any documentation or link to provide more details on this : you can add your own API key for the free providers ?
Page to add API keys: https://openrouter.ai/settings/integrations
Context:
OpenRouter lets you add your own API keys for all the providers they support so that you can increase your own rate limits (if OpenRouter has low rate limits for that model) or for you to use any credits you have on that provider. They call this BYOK (bring your own key)
To create an API key for that provider, visit the provider's website and create an accoubnt
Then create an API key on the provider's website
