#Does new expanded limit for 10 credits on account working?

Hey guys. I read about openrouter new policy with expanded response limit for users who have at least 10 credits on their account and added 11 credits to my balance today. Create new API key, used it in ST with Deepseek R1 (Free). I'm positive that I didn't reach extended limit, since I text something around 20-40 messages only, which usually doesn't even hit ordinary 200 limit we have before and I got exceeded limit message in ST. Any help?

Hi @split compass the DeepSeek R1 free endpoint has a 100 Requests Per Day limit, separate from the other limits - will discuss with the team if we can adjust this

Hey, uh... Kinda need to mention that in FAQ section, I guess. So what other models are also having this limit?

Just talked to the team, we're going to remove the 100 RPD on this endpoint

it is now only limited by your account's requests per day limit for free models (50 or 1000)

the reset isn't exactly 24 hours, it's at a specific time (midnight UTC) each day

hmm yeah it used to work like that for me but it didn't yesterday maybe it'll reset tonight then.

well its also telling me something new this time as before it was just limit met(don't know exact phrasing) now it mentions add the credit thing to extend limit idk if thats related or not if I cant use free ones unless I add 10 dollars

yeah we changed the error message when we made the change to the 1000 requests thing. Did you add 10 dollars? just trying to debug

I haven't added but I think I might know what happened if it resets at 6pm for me(midnight UTC to CST) then I think I just hit the cap idk the activity only shows 47 logs

second question can I just put the 10 dollars in and leave it or does it mean I need to maintain it by like spending it on a paid one and then adding more to keep it at 10 dollars?

they don't need to be used. You can just add the credits and leave them there

it's like a $10 deposit / sub that unlocks 1000 RPD forever

(though do note that we reserve the right to expire credits after a year. we haven't expired any credits at this point, and might in the future)
