I know that using Deepseek's API you can return the reasoning tokens directly. Vercel AI's deepseek library allows this as well.
I tested this on deepseek and Google thinking and IIRC it was not apparent to me that the OpenRouter API exposes the reasoning tokens. Not sure if the gemini thinking model does this when using their APIs but this would be great to have going forward.
