#how to remove search engine added manually??
6 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
hey guys i've found out a solution for linux system i dont know if its the right method or not but worked for me and nothing broke. till now๐ .
so what i've done is that i went to the .config/zen to configure some zen configs which i want to do, i went to my user directory where my whole browser profile data was stored and found a file named "search.json.mozlz4" . and searched about this file a bit...
this is what i got from web:
"Firefox stores information on built-in and added-on search engine plugins in a file compressed using Mozilla's flavor of LZ4 compression (.mozlz4 file extension). This page provides a brief summary table showing what it found; the full JSON data, including paths and parameters, can be saved for examination in a Firefox tab or another tool. Note: Firefox 78.0 was going to migrate this data to a new file, but that was reversed in Firefox 78.0.1."

so what i understood is that the data of search engines is stored somewhat in this file, so i have taken the best step not to fix anything just remove the root cause..๐
i know very bad decision but heyy it worked and nothing broke and i got what i want to do. infact im doing this message through zen. so yeah ig its working and yeah also do all this when zen isn't running. after the restart zen automatically created this file again. clean and fresh.
so yeah this was all fixed the issue.
you can set browser.settings-redesign.enabled to false
then you have the search settings back
Where? In some file in the configs folder?
in the address bar enter about:config, click on "Accept the risk" then search browser.settings-redesign.enabled . Set its value to false
