Having the same issue, seems to be somewhat connected to the status bar/link preview since the length and position of the black artifact matches the length and position of the link preview.
Only started appearing after the zen 1.15.1b update
Happens on all sites with transparency enabled only when hovering over links

This zen mod works as a temporary workaround and prevents the artifact from showing up

Yeah, unfortunately when a tab is transparent, firefox captures it with a white background like in the in-app screenshot tool. So this happens and so far, there's no workaround 😭

the compact sidebar? if you are using transparent zen, there's an option in it to adjust it by pixels... I personally do not use the compact sidebar so I just nuked the entire compact sidebar in zenzero. Remove that part if you are using, check general css, I think I added some note on which part to be removed if needed.

This is why Sine is better, the dev has released the fix for it to work and it's instantly available to Sine users.
But on Zen Mods it'll take a day or two on average for update to be available. And that's when they're not busy...

i mean... sine guys are basically already done and even if they aren't it's much easier to develop a mod manager than a whole entire browser which has to be updated and compatible with many stuff, i don't think it's fair to blame the zen team

I have force styling off and the extension isn't activated on some websites but why are some websites like https://thediplomat.com/ for example still transparent, its annoying that i have to manually add fallback background every new website like this, is it because of the zen mod or the about:config thing that makes everything transparent?

Kinda yes, kinda not... it's simply because that website is always been transparent because the devs did not add a default bg color to the body. It's only causing issues because here, that website does not have a default white backplate to rely on since it's being removed by the mod.

We can not automate mods since it's just css. so the only option to fix it is the fallback background toggle in the addon. Unfortuantely I can not make it on for every website for a couple of reasons,

1. some users prefer having it transparent than fixing it with a background
2. adding a default white bg to the body or hrml might override existing colors of the website
3. It's quite rare to find a such website.

So yea, you do have to rely on the fallback option if you are actively using transparency mods for at least other websites.

for now to mitigate how ugly it is when you unfocus a transparent window in macos, i changed the macos window material pref in about:config to 0 since it makes the transparency a lot more subtle and frosted

so for me all the transparent zen mod does is let me see my browser theme gradient as the website background

with only just enough transparency to look a little glassy but not enough to really see anything behind the window

hello :) im running Zen with the Transparent Zen mod, Zen Internet extention & Mica for Everyone. I had transparency working (windows 11 settings & browser/Mica config are correct) but any time I hovered over a link I'd see a big gray bar top-to-bottom above the status bar showing the hovered link.

I went to reinstall the transparent mod just to make sure I was on the right version & forgot to disable it before removing it.

Any insight on how to get transparency back? Im guessing ill have to do a clean install of the whole browser but wanted to check here

im cobbling together my own theme for ticktick with no experience coding before just by poking around inspect element and pure trial and error

since theres no task manager app that even remotely matches how powerful ticktick is but tickticks ui is kinda clunky

ive been cleaning up things that bug me, making it more readable, and then making it transparent with your beautiful mod

and then by adding it as an essential and never closing it ive effectively turned my new tab page into ticktick, so i can always be jumpscared by my tasks when i close my other tabs

I followed sameerasw's Zen Zero guide for the Transparent Zen Mod and I ran into a issue where transparency only works when Zen Browser is the inactive window (so if I tab out to my terminal it'll become transparent.) I have an Arch Linux Niri install. Any idea how to get around this?

@ionic axle The original install already had me set those flags in the about:config so they're already on. I just tried refreshing startup cache and no dice.

I did uninstall the mod and add on and tried adding transparency through the niri config file and the same thing happened (Zen browser was transparent only when not the active window) so I don't think there's anything wrong with the mod or add on.

I did see something interesting (which made me think it might be my wm) Steam acted the same way. It was only transparent when not the active window. Other programs like my terminal Alacrity stayed transparent regardless if it was active or not. If not Niri there's a something making certain programs behave this way somewhere

there's no configs in it.. I often change that theme since I adjsut things so I did not add any configs so to edit, you ened to go to the zsen mods folder and change css... But I won't recomment it al0ong with other theme stho as it may conflict. so if needed, try adding this small snippet to your userContent.css
