1. you don't need to modify the userchrome as long as it's not adding any bg by itself.. the mod can handle the transparency.
2. background is not transparent for every website.. but you can attempt to by using the force theming option
3. transparency is optional and you can toggle it globally or per website with the addon settings

that's very subjective and at the moment I have already done too many changes I think... but if you are asking about transparency, none... the mod can handle that...

But I do recommend the compact

• density (browser.uidensity 1),
• tab groups (if you need them),
• backup (not sure if it works properlyy),
• gaps removal (separation 0 thingy - zen.theme.content-element-separation 0),
• no dev tools prompt if you edit userchrome a lot (devtools.debugger.prompt-connection false)
• maybe this is why my yt doesn't create a new space in fulls creen (full-screen-api.macos-native-full-screen false)
• context menu icons in macos (widget.macos.native-context-menus false)
• personal - no hover compact sidebar (zen.view.compact.show-sidebar-and-toolbar-on-hover false)

Actually it's an issue with zen withg a recent change that made the compact sidebar to pop up when no tabs are open... I have set the compact sidebar to be always hidden but it still pops up which shouldn't be the case.. I opened an issue for it but not sure if it was removed...

I had to keep it opacity 0 because otherwise you can still change workspaces while swiping on the left edge... I will try to remove the pop-ups as well but not sure if it will be easy

the default behavior of zen is to keep it open when no tabs open but I hate it.. ebcause I don't use the compact sidebar at all and I unhide the main taskbar if I need it... So I just made the compact sidebar transparent.. you can remove that part in the userchrome.css and it will make it visible but not hover tho...

it will be possible to make it hover but that also means writing so many css to just fix it and it's too much of a hassle because it's controlled by js.

but zen since 1.11.x or so (not sure) changed the functionality so when no tabs open, the compact sidebar also stays open for some reason...

It won't be easy to handle with css because js is changing the value ...

you can try my css, but in the part where I set the sidebar opacity to 0 when no tabs open, try to move the sidebar left instead and on hover, show it again... will need quite some css and I don't know what else can break either with this

it's hard to do with the current implementation.... I will look into this... also the issue is that different text in the page are styled differently.. so I will have to apply the same color for h1, h2, h3, .... and so on on then another secondary color for span, p and such....

I think this is because youtube as you use, don't remove elements, they justkeep them with the "display: none" property so the code gets increasingly cluttered... Like if you view a video and go to home, that video page with the url and such are still there... in-site navigation is bit of a mess but i think they do it to allove navigating back easily

For websites that are mostly broken with transparency on (probably because they lack any background color) is there a quick way to simply add a white background to them? Globaly enabling transparency for websites has this issue that I have mostly lived with for the past months but honestly there has to be a better way to handle those situations

If you want that website to be transparent and the text to be readable, maybe try darkreader .... If not, you either gotta use the userContent.css or an addon like stylebot to add a light-dark(#fff, #222) or similar background to the body of it....

I got no plans atm to add such feature to the mod since the point of the addon is to achieve transparency...

a macOS client and an android app written natively which can sync android's notification to the mac in real time via loacal network. also allows me to sync clipboard both ways too... best thing is I have added script for "scrcpy" which allows display mirroring from phone to any device with adb .. so opening the notification launches that app on the device but on a virtual screen that is only visible in teh mac... and I can do all that wirelessly 🙂
