#New tab Page Recomendation?!

mine is like that, I hate Firefox's default new tab page because it keeps showing the pages I've visited in addition to my pinned pages, and as far as I know, there's no easy way to disable it. I generally don't need anything flashy; a page where I can see only my pinned pages would be enough. It would also be great to choose the size and placement of these pins, because Firefox's default page places them in a huge and very unattractive way.
Additionally, blurred and overly cluttered new tab pages can cause performance issues. I shouldn't have to wait for the new tab page to load when I first open the browser. it must be snappy.
Tabnine is a fork and up-to-date Tabliss with many issues fixed https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-nine/
Tabliss was good but last updated was >2 years ago
Currently cooking a prototype, but I will share my criteria of an ideal NTP after looking up some of popular NT extensions. Is this list missing something?
Agreed. Thats also the thing i appreciate about my choice back then, Humble New Tab Page
existing bookmarks laid as title list (with or without favicons)
The beauty of Tabliss/Tabnine is zero permissions
It's so simple and safe because there's zero permissions so they're very safe
For example thoses that can access to internet and bookmark at the same time can send your bookmarks to somewhere
It's just their overcomplex design
Google/DuckDuckGo offer API to get favicon for free, without POST
That part probably need to be rewritten if you want Bonjour
Pretty ez
But having a great and lightweight new tab page is great
Because Firefox's New Tab Page is utter trash sadly
Not only it looks ugly, it's also heavy, can cause CPU spike even
Because it connects to many API, like bookmark and history APIs, so it's heavier than New Tab Page addons
And its UX is pretty trash
Elaborate
Spoiler. Not done yet, probably continued tomorrow. Too sleepy rn
im using this extension but i think there's more better extensions with more customizable things
is this safe?
those are not bookmarks, but i diasble all permissions
nighttab is more customizable
you can do this
Recently tried Markdown New Tab. Not for everyone, but this is a nice minimal new tab alternatives
You can customize it with CSS too me love it
you know what, i love it :D
gonna search it rn
theres any link? can't find it
for nighttab?
wow this is a fantastic use of the dropdown menus
for what it that file?
importing settings
like this
wait, thats a browser? ๐
thats cool asf, but would be nicer if I could edit the image of the icons of sites
some icons are blurred
damn, this is neat

too much customizations

tho I use casca now, looks nice

need to calibrate the gloss
maybe the videos doesn't look kinda HD but I'm not complaining
try mtab
mtab is cool, but I want more stuff so Im using casca
This Add-on has similar things, and has an MPL 2.0 license,... although it has not been updated in a year.
icons look shit
also if it hasnt been updated I dont think all the features work properly?
and crypto shit too
They were surely targeting Brave users ๐
The truth is that I have not tried it, since they asked for many permissions that were too intrusive.
That is to say, perhaps it is understood that the permissions are because it comes with "Bookmark Management" (which is appreciated because Firefox's default is not very usable.)
๏ปฟ
It also brings other productivity functions such as notebooks, sticky notes, to-do lists, mind maps, etc.
๏ปฟ
However, with crypto it gives rise to suspicion. And I also already manage the bookmarks in Sidebery, and the productivity functions in apps like Appflowy, and Affine.
yea, I dont really use bookmarks much, and I do productivity stuff in anytype
I've been on the Anytype wishlist for so long that I already have almost everything on Appflowy (after migrating from Affine),โฆ
๏ปฟ
It looks good in terms of functionality, although I am still satisfied with the performance of Appflowy
why not anytype
wdym on the wishlist
anytype does need more features yeah, but it works well for me
The thing is that I was waiting a long time for it to be available, I had already ruled it out,... however I see that they are progressing well,... maybe I will give you some opportunity to try it... and evaluate if the change is appropriate...
yeah you can try sometime, its pretty good
I tried Anytype before. Migrating to Craft after that (free tier but student so I still got good plenty spots for notes and such). Now I'm ended up in Amplenote and loving it so far โค๏ธ
especially since i wasn't really the type to be very strict on privacy/encryption and Amplenote simple yet eyeopening UI works for me well
I care about privacy and anytype gets everything done for me so I stuck with it
trilium next is also a good foss note taking app
I just use obsidian
this is exactly what ive been needing
