The 4-pip target, a broken castle, was quite a challenge - especially with the dozens of heavy patrols coming through every day. But I was able to finally get through the slog of bandits.
But... then I couldn't progress the quest.
The directions say to free the captive after either clearing the bandits or capturing the flag.
There is no flag at that location.
Because I had cleared all the bandits before even trying to free the captive, I don't know if the quest has it locked that you either cannot open the cage or cannot talk to the captive before either condition is met, or that I just followed the rules too closely. If it wasn't locked, I suggest it should be - I doubt the bandits or patrols would have let the freeman live.
But after freeing the guy, I kept looking for the camp's flag. I searched both the ground and top floors multiple times. I found at least 6 chests, 2 sets of loose gold (why is there more laying there after I pilfer it?), and the captive. Nothing else seems interactive. I also cleared most of the rocks and trees from around the castle. I'm pretty sure there were the typical multiple action-dots in the middle of the ground around it. Maybe one of those was the flag?
I searched enough that I had to clear the camp at least 2 more times. The last time, someone spawned mostly underground, stuck in the back of one of the tents. I shot him in the chest as he walked in place - until he died, then the camp was 'auto-captured' - has that process ever been explicitly spelled out for players? This is the only time in playing this game I've been glad that it actually happened that way.
Actually, on the first clearing I found a running footman stuck behind the red banner on the top floor - like shooting ducks in a barrel. But that banner is the closest thing related to the normal white bandit camp flag.
Granted, it was dark most of the time, and I didn't find a lot of leeway to look around on the stairway, but did I just miss the flag?
