Villagers prioritize placing raw food on the smoker rather than the Cauldron.

Example.
I got a batch of 10 mushrooms.
The Cauldron has mushroom stew prioritized and the Cauldron as priority 1.
Villagers will still use the smoker to smoke all the mushrooms. And as for the Cauldron will only be cooking my berries instead which is the 2nd recipe.

QoL for smoker

  1. Able to limit amount of resources used for smoking
  2. Able to set topup values or disable smoking of certain recipes
  3. Able to set the priority of the smoker (e.g. Cauldron as priority 1 and smoker priority 2 so that villagers will prioritize the recipes in Cauldron first)

I was able to thwart this by setting limits on foods in the storage. Whether it be stockpile, barn or camp chest. Not to say it couldn't be improved upon. Good ideas. Micromanagement is fun when it works.

Smoker should have a management setting like the cauldron to configure the number and type of food you will produce with this.

on the other side, may i ask why do you still intend to use the smoker? the couldron produces way more and better food...

i get there are smoker with the inn, but you can disable those, as of now, from the start disable campfire and smoke, so i only place food in there i want to prevent from spoiling, and i always have a handy emergency stock on the smoker... while the cauldron are working nonstop
( although the excess wood burning in the cauldron is a bit unsettling 🙂 )

i set my prioity of my smoker to lower than cauldrons but doesnt seem to do anything. Maybe its a bug

I think there needs to be management options on the smoker and the campfire but until they add that I leave the priority off early once I have cauldron. If you put things on there if they finish before the workers go to sleep people will take them off and store them still. Same with the drying racks, the dried berries slow down workers food consumption and the dried mushrooms increase their productivity. Once you have enough extra meats I turn the smoker on and they smoke the meat before mushrooms, without the management though I try to remember to turn it off 3/4 of the way through the day so they take everything off before they go to sleep and it doesn't burn

I ended up having to put my smoker in an outpost while its in the middle of my base. this would help alot

thats why managment would be better its a huge pain to automate it without all your mushrooms being used up

yes,... i know i validate that,... for me i still wont using the rack anymore, but others might want to,
for myself i would fancy the managment for the drying rack.... be it as part of the building because a managament interaction in the rack istelf would be troublesome to implement i guess...

for the drying rack.. those are also part of the inn, so naturally i would expect managment to be put there and single out the stand alone drying rack... but thats just me ... not seeing the usfullness of the dryingrack after the cauldron 😄

idk if they set it up like the farm where you set the production preference and you can turn off a specific thing that would work.

yes that is true... but ateleast for the drying rack i would dislike it to have it done for each rack individually...

i could however imaging that certain building are meant to not have a seperate interaktion,... for their purpose... so that why i might expect there could be a limitation...

but its also very troublesome that you cant dry cranberries... to there is much room to improve here and there
