Hi, I have been running LibreChat for a while.

Yesterday, when I tried to login as the admin, it told me that my password is wrong. So I tried to get a reset email, but that didn't work as well (maybe the email address I believe I used for the admin is wrong?). Is there another way to reset the admin password short of deleting everything and reinstalling?

I have tried this: https://www.librechat.ai/docs/configuration/mongodb/mongodb_auth but to no avail. While the newly created user is there, it is not accepted for login.

Okay, so I set up MongoExpress but I can‘t find the admin account anywhere. Should that be in librechat/users? There is only my non-admin user account there. Or should it be in admin? There is no account there at all. Is it possible that the admin account got lost somehow (deleted)?

I thought I‘d try and set up another user account and make that admin but librechat didn‘t let me register any new accounts (just reported „error“) although registration of users is enabled (set to true in the .env file).

Now I have to wait for 60 minutes before trying again. 😭

It said „too many accounts created“ but none (new) show up in MongoExpress (in librechat/users). What is going on?

"too many accounts created" comes from the automatic moderation system:

this is the right place indeed, the "admin" account is the first account created. It's possible it hasn't been created if your first account used social login method instead of email...

either way, if you can find one of your accounts in the DB, look for the field "role" and modify it from USER to ADMIN to give that account the admin permissions

I just did that with my only account but I didn't get admin powers. I even restarted the whole stack but to no avail.

Just in case it matters: my only account was created via social login. Can such an account not be admin?

you can make a "social" account admin
being admin doesn't show as anything special in the UI, are you sure you didn't get the permissions?

Well, if an admin doesn't have any additional settings in the UI, then I am not sure I did not geht admin powers. But if I bot Thema, where can I use them, if not in the UI?

go in "prompts" -> "manage" and look for the "admin" button
