Before I ask my question I need to get some info out of the way.

I am the maintainer of the YARG APWorld over in the Archipelago community. (info on AP: https://archipelago.gg/) The AP Discord has rulings regarding age ratings on any game that gets an implementation on their server. Any game that goes above an 18+ rating has to be moved to a different server. (Still an official server, just one that is age gated)

The way that they determine age rating starts at official sources. (ESRB, PEGI, USK, etc.) If a game does not have an official rating from a source like that, second in line is the developers/publishers. They also only recognize the difference between 18+ or not.

This brings me to my question. For the content available through the YARC Launcher, (YARG OST, DLC, and YARN) would the team consider the game to be 18+?

Side note: Sorry if this is not really the best place for a question like this. I figured since the game client itself is not really of any concern, but rather the songs being most likely to be 18+, asking in here is probably the best place to get the opinion of the charting team and not get drowned out in general or anything.

All 4 main rock band games are rated T so I assume YARG would be around the same.

Mainly just thinking about how YARG doesn't really censor songs at all like the RB and GH games.

seems like the setlist does have some MC rated songs, so I would think that it would have to be 18+

(or maybe 17+?)

(nightly does have the ability to filter MC-rated songs from the library, but it's not like it's locked behind a parental PIN or anything)

I mean I have some other levers I can pull, namely not including certain songs in the randomizer generation.

I do also know about the rating tags, but I'm unsure as to what ages those actually map to.

I'm willing to let this conversation go for a bit so other team members can weigh in with their opinions. This is not a super pressing problem or anything.

After a team discussion, we (the devs) have determined the game is safe for minors. None of the songs and materials are 18+; the most you'd get is similar to that of parental advisories on music (for instance, explicit lyrics indication on Spotify)

The game has no ratings from official sources, of course, but I'd presume it'd be assigned M from ESRB hypothetically for explicit lyrics
