#Nightly b3071+: Five fret guitar shows no guitar highway, but vocal karaoke instead (Linux)

If I try to play FIve fret guitar on Nightly build b3071 or later, the guitar highway doesn't show up but instead a vocal karaoke highway (highlighted text, no score indicator) shows up instead.

This is probably part of the "highway rendering overhaul (#1046) (@theli-ua)" of Nightly b3071.

I understand that Nightly really does mean bleeding edge since 0.13 but if anyone wants to take a look at this issue, I'd be glad to help troubleshoot it for future improvement.

For now, try switching the fishing graphics API in the launcher to Vulkan. (There's a settings icon next to the launch button where you can change it)

Probably a me-problem but when launch it like that, I never actually get the game window. I'm not sure if Vulkan runs well on my system or if it's a Wayland issue.

Interesting..thanks for checking. Maybe @tacit hill has some ideas?

you can click on the three dots and click "open install folder"

#

and then you can run the executable from there

#

and you can add the -force-vulkan or -force-opengl command line flags to change the graphics api without the launcher

Correct: launching straight from the install folder with --force-vulkan makes the guitar highway show up correctly.
Launching straight from the install folder with --open-gl is the same as launching Yarg Nightly regularly (it indeed always defaults to OpenGL).

okay, so the issue itself is limited to opengl
