#Recs for a Wii Keytar dongle

Since this is a Wii controller that doesn't inheritly connect to a wiimote (meaning standard adapters for wii guitars won't work), you'll need some kind of direct Wiimote -> PC device. I have this one, although I'm not sure if it'll work with such a weird controller https://www.mayflash.com/product/W010.html
Connect your Wii Remote Plus Controller to your PC by Bluetooth
As well for wired (which might be better since this is such a weird controller in relation to other Wii controllers), any MIDI USB controller should work. This is the one I have but many others exist online https://www.m-audio.com/audio-midi-interfaces/uno.html
Acclaimed audio interfaces, studio monitors, and keyboard controllers
Oh damn, that's the first I've heard of that. Is this controller really that uncommon? Obviously I'd prefer wireless but sounds like wired is much easier
It's not that it's uncommon, it's just that the majority of Wii accessories connect to a Wiimote via the nunchuck port. Guitars and the DJ Hero turntable all do this
so the fact that this is a standalone controller (I'm guessing the drums are too) means that standard Wii accessory -> PC adapters like the RetroCultMods v3 won't work
Ugh bummer. This is the only Wii controller I have, a friend found it and gave it to me. I thought it would maybe be just a simple midi to USB cable
Chances are it will work, you can try one if you have one
Maybe this is a dumb question but why are there 2 midi cables on the end of that?
One is for MIDI Out data and the other is for MIDI In, more used for two-way communication between instruments which the RB3 keys don't use at all
Since you have that same wireless bar, does it need direct line of sight? In your experience does it work pretty well? I know you said you aren't using it with the same controller but maybe it's worth a shot for me
It doesn't need a specific line of sight, that would only be for using a wiimote in pointer mode
And as for connections, it's pretty good with me playing on a real wiimote on Dolphin or something, although I've never used it to use a wii controller on YARG before
Guess I can be the test dummy for that if I try haha I'll see if I can find a case of anyone else trying it out before
To add to this channel, looks like the keytar came with its own dongle so chances are a wireless connection using the Mayflash adapter may not work lol, my bad didn't know that
Best case for wireless then is to look on second-hand marketplaces for a used one
Yeah I'm pretty sure it did come with a dongle. We used this to play RB3 years ago but since then she lost the dongle, don't think that's happening
Used dongle or whole Keytar+ dongle?
Likely just dongle, I would be surprised if a 2010-era accessory had a "one dongle per instrument" thing like modern controllers have
yeah looks like they have a sync button on them
👀👀👀
Now that's promising

Looking juicy
I still have my Wii Keys w/ dongle, it looks just like that one and works flawlessly. Both the dongle and the keyboard have a sync button to pair them together, so you should be fine with any working 2nd hand one.
