Does the PS5 Riffmaster need any additional configuration for the whammy and star power to work? I have it set up wirelessly and it works perfectly besides the whammy bar and tilt mode not being detected in controller mapping.
I have set it up as an exe and launching the game through proton. In game, the guitar is detected as an Xbox Controller. I believe it may be due to the steam input as I'm using proton to open the game.

It’s a known bug with the PlayStation riffmaster. Afaik there isn’t a fix. The Xbox version does support tilt and whammy (but I think you need software)

it's an issue with the Riffmaster not exposing whammy/tilt as proper axes, they're marked as vendor-defined data so no operating system knows how to generically support them
either a custom driver needs to be made, or software has to implement support for it manually, which YARG does
what complicates things here on Linux is that the hidraw driver is always configured to require root access by default to access raw HID data, so YARG is unable to read the raw HID data needed to do that support
that can be changed by installing udev rule files, but on SteamOS things are further complicated by the immutable file system
