#rb4instrument mapper not picking up guitar
55 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
what controller emulation mode do you have set right now?
also, do you ever see it say something like Created new <DeviceType>Mapper in the console?
or Device limit reached, no new devices will be handled.?
i don't see any indication of it actually creating the device mapper in that screenshot
i treid both vigem and vjoy
not at all, the last thing that ever comes up is the new client connect with id. I saw that message show up in someone elses tutorial video and thats why im confused lol
hm
have you tried restarting your PC yet? that's the only thing i can suggest right now lol
i havent done that since installing everything, ill give it a go
restarting didnt change anything
ive also tried the xbox adapter in three different usb ports, one on the mobo, one on a pcie usb expansion, and one on the front panel
heres a log i just created and one from earlier
oh, right
okay yeah that makes sense now lol
i need to put out a release that fixes that
lmao
i ran into that myself and already fixed it locally
sounds good lol, lmk when the release is out?
will do!
🤙
I'd found that glitch once and uninstalled the mapper, restarted my pc and installed it again, then it worked fine - but yeah lmk too! :D
It looks like you may have the same issue as me @shy owl
I had to revert to RB4 instrument mapper 4.1.0 for my Xbox One RB4 guitars to be detected in YARG again.
Looking forward to the fix! Ty @tender wadi
Thx for the temp fix, will check it out!
status update, the next version is gonna be delayed a few days
we're headed out of town to go to a cousin's wedding
Thanks for the update @tender wadi!!
@shy owl @twin moth @normal solar new pre-release is out, fixes the one issue mentioned here
https://github.com/TheNathannator/RB4InstrumentMapper/releases/tag/v4.2.0-pre2
i unfortunately don't have the mental energy to look into much else right now, there's not much concrete for me to work off of
if you get any other errors, let me know
Hell ya! Thank you @tender wadi! I'll give this a try tomorrow.
Thank you! I'll let you know if I run into any problems!
@tender wadi - I installed v4.2.0 Pre-Release 2 and my RB4 Xbox One guitar is still not showing up as an 'Xbox Controller' in YARG.
The device does show its connected and if I enable debugging I can see its capturing the guitars inputs.
When it does work on the older version of RB4 instrument mapper it shows this output where is states its using a fallback mapper. I used the "send to log file" option and I can send it to you if that would help. I just dont know where the log file is output to.
can you enable "Show verbose (unimportant) errors" and check what it outputs?
Sure ill do that right now
i should really go and make sure errors in the packet reading and mapping code aren't marked as verbose lol
hmm haha I enabled the verbose option and my RB4 instrument mapper captured a bunch of messages but now its frozen.
hmm
Should I have all three of those options checked?
Or only the verbose option?
Ah okay the mapper froze again even without verbose checked. Seems that its not happy with me showing the logs or writing it to a file.
try only the verbose option
Okay one sec
yeah, there's something wrong with the logging evidently
weird, why is it not creating the mapper?
Seems like when trying to see the logs it likes to freeze up I think depending on the orientation of the guitar and the X Axis. Like the X Axis is spamming the log file with changes
Is this message normal? Cause this is the message that is displayed when it does work in YARG but its an older verion of Rb4 Instrument Mapper.
yes, that happens when the guitar is connected before you hit Start
if you follow what it says and either reconnect it or wait until after you hit Start to connect it, you'll see it use the proper mapper
Gotcha, but in this case its not doing that. Unless I'm doing something wrong? 🙂 I have been playing YARG alot on the previous version of RB4 Mapper so I dont think its the steps Im taking.
