#Xbox Riffmaster Support

alright, so, for Wireshark you'll need to revert the driver on the dongle in RB4InstrumentMapper
once that's done, install Wireshark and make sure to check the option to install USBPcap in the installer
after it's installed, open it and look at the bottom area
you should see a bunch of USBPcap entries
click on the gear icon and check the Attached USB Devices list to see what's connected to it
when you find the one with the Riffmaster, close the menu, unplug the dongle, and double-click the entry to start the capture
then plug in the dongle and things should get captured
at the installer's Choose Components screen, I'm not seeing an option for USBPcap
i'm pretty sure it's in a separate page later
should be the same one it mentions Npcap on iirc
if not, you can also download it here
https://desowin.org/usbpcap/
USBPcap open source USB sniffer for Windows.
ah, the page after Npcap/WinPcap offers USBPcap. cool
awesome
wireshark installer demands a reboot; I shall return momentarily
okay, I think I was able to get a capture, but I failed to adequately notate the input sequence, so I'm gonna write that out ahead of time and stick to the script.
should I try to do any of the inputs tied to audio and the 'function' key? or just the more standard game controls?
just the standard game controls
the rest of that stuff is probably too complex for me to feasibly implement lol
I hope this covers what you need it do.
managed to frustrate myself by dropping the dongle somewhere difficult to reach, and then similarly dropping the object I had grabbed to help me retrieve the dongle
oof
hopefully the dump should be relatively clean - I shuffled some of my peripherals around so all that was on that line was the dongle and a couple of internal hubs
yep, looks plenty clean
I think something about the driver-swapping may have gone wrong and borked things a bit - trying to play Fortnite with the supposedly-correct driver, the game didn't recognize this as a Guitar until I told windows to flat out uninstall the device
did you happen to get the joystick click input? don't think i see it here
didn't think to do that one; sorry
all good lol
you able to get that any time soon?
if not i can always add it later
got everything aside from that catalogued and pushed to my docs
plugged in the dongle, let it connect, and hit the stick button three times. hope that helps
hmm
only two input reports
oh wait i got the filter wrong lol
awesome, got the input
thank you very much! ❤️
👍
got a pre-release of RB4InstrumentMapper out that should address some of the issues people have noted in the CH server
https://github.com/TheNathannator/RB4InstrumentMapper/releases/tag/v4.2.0
Hell yeah
I was using the Xbox riffmaster today after troubleshooting through rb4instrument mapper for like an hour, but the moment I disconnect, it just does not work. Is this pre-release the fix for the riffmaster Xbox controller not working at all, or am I just going through a different issue?
but the moment I disconnect
what do you mean specifically by this?
do you mean that it doesn't work again after you disconnect and reconnect the guitar?
Well no, I mean I've only gotten the guitar to connect once to YARG or even CH after brute forcing the guide to setup to PC.
I wasn't sure if there was an issue with rb4IM and that would be the fix
i'm still not sure i understand what the problem you're describing is
but tbh i don't really know for sure what this update fixes and what it doesn't lol
the issues are just too vague in cause and i can only pray
oh its all good man, ive just been having issues with connecting the xbox riffmaster and i thought it would fix em. thanks for even replying!
@mental trellis not necessarily an issue with riffmaster or anything but ive noticed now that when using the rb4im the cursor on my mouse goes to the bottom left corner of my screen always, unless i tilt - i also cant pause a game using my guitar
this may be an issue with VigEmBus as thats what i use, but i thought id let you know either way just in case
Not sure if this is the issue you're seeing, but I recently found my tilt and whammy effecting mouse movement, and eventually tracked it down to Steam trying to apply some Desktop Mode binds to my guitar - turned off that setting in Steam, and the mouse stopped caring about the guitar.
Hmm, ill check on that when i get the chance to get on again later - for now all i know is that when the mapper is on it happens, when its off it doesnt
might be able to track it down to steams controller detection - maybe this setting for xbox controllers
yeah, this is most likely Steam's default desktop configuration
Now that I have a chance to talk more here, on break at work, I will say that you were right @remote totem thanks a mill
Hi! I just received my Xbox riff master yesterday and I started my efforts to connect it to YARG but in doing so I think I found a different issue?
If these questions have already been addressed please point me in the right direction 🙂
- I have been playing YARG with my RB4 Xbox One guitars using the RB4 instrument mapper.
- Updated my RB4 instrument mapper to 4.2 0 for the joystick fix with the riff master.
- Now my RB4 Xbox one guitars no longer show up in YARG as an Xbox controller. They do show up in RB4 instrument mapper and if I turn on debugging I can see it capturing my inputs.
Am I missing a setting to have my XBOX RB4 guitars show up in YARG again?
I uninstalled RB4 instrument mapper 4.2.0 and reverted back to 4.0.3 and my Xbox RB4 guitars work again as normal in YARG.
My goal is to play YARG with my two RB4 Xbox guitars and the riff master to allow for three people to play at once 🙂
I guess maybe try to disconnect everything from your YARG account and reconnect them? If that works? I've never had to do it myself though
Maybe you have to remap them
Aaa
Hey Robyn! Do you have an Xbox One RB4 guitar and have it working with RB4 Instrument Mapper 4.2.0?
So I updated RB4 Instrument Mapper to 4.1.0 up from 4.0.3 and my RB4 Xbox One Guitars work fine. Its only when updating RB4 Instrument Mapper to 4.2.0 that they stop working.
@mental trellis - I took a screenshot if this helps understand what may be happening. This message does not appear when I am on 4.2.0
If I need to create a new post for this separate from the Riffmaster support I can. 🙂 I just figured since RB4 instrument mapper was updated to 4.2.0 because of the riffmaster that I would post about it here.
Thanks anyone who helps!
definitely make a new post about it, this is more of a separate topic lol
