#only 1 song scanning

can you post your game log? it might be getting caught up on something we haven't accounted for yet
Your Player.log file may be found here:
- Windows:
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\LocalLow\YARC\YARG - Mac:
~/Library/Logs/Unity/YARC/YARG - Linux:
~/.config/unity3d/YARC/YARG
hm, no errors
this exact same thing has been happening to me, only for the past few updates, very strange
We have a new song scanning system which is much faster but clearly has some issues for some people
There isn't much we can do without any errors in log files because there's nothing for us to investigate
Heres my log file if itll help
Can you redo it by doing the following steps:
Open the game.
Go to the settings.
Click the button which scans all folders
After scanning finishes, close the game
Send the logs
There's a lot of stuff going on in the log file which makes it hard to track
Did you click it once?
Nope, I clicked it a few times. I reopened it and just scanned one time and heres the log now
How many folders do you have added in the settings menu. And can you take a screenshot of the folder you're trying to scan and its contents?
Here ya go, I have just this 1 folder named Custom in my library
What happens if you change the folder in your settings to be the "Custom" folder
not the CHARTS
It still only scans in just one song
which song is it scanning
The Feels - Twice
Hmm
As a test, can you copy a subset of your songs (maybe like 50?) to a different folder and scan that folder
I just noticed you have 2000 folders in one folder because you clearly extract every song into the same base folder
Sure!
(you shouldnt do that)
To make your life easier, any packs/setlists you download you should organise into setlist folders
like, this is my songs folder
Thank you for the tip, I've just never gotten around to organizing it. I made a test subfolder with 50 songs and it worked! So I'll go through and try to clean it up and see if that fixes things. Thank you for all your help.
Can you avoid cleaning it up for now
Because it appears that there is some issue when a folder is of a certain size
And I'd like to look into this to see if we can fix it
Okay no problem!
I mean if you have the storage space, you could re-extract any packs you have downloaded to a different location and organise them
While keeping the "bugged" folder for us to test with
Just so you can play the game yknow
But I understand having a lot of songs can take a lot of drive space up so if that's not possible then I'll have to investigate it sooner rather than later
Its all good, take your time. I'll leave the folder as is and just use a separate folder for now. Let me know if theres anyway i can help!
No problem! I'm gonna whip up a small console application soon that you can run which can maybe help us diagnose the problem
sounds good!
Hey so I wrote a console app which basically mimics the song scanning process (enumerates a fuck ton of directories) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jLa3pAfaOBpJUibcwll6WbpQqOljYJo1/view?usp=share_link
Tell me what this says
You just need to paste in the path to your songs folder that you're scanning and hit enter
for example I paste this
If this reports back the correct number then its something within YARG
@wind isle Hey could you try this too as you also have this issue?
Trying to get to the root of the problem
its giving me the correct folder count
well close enough anyway, its off by 4
out of almost 14k
Alright just scanned it and everything counted correctly
Ok so something is wrong within YARG
