I continued mining in the forest but did not find iron. I used some iron I found in the shipwreck to make some tools and some andesite alloy. Not enough to break into create, but enough to get stone age tools. I think I need to continue mining or explore for more wrecks or ruins. I probably should go back to the desert to mine into the pyramid.

I think minecraft gods hate me. The modpack I made for this is unusually slow, I will update if I have more progress.
Oooh a new adventure begins!
Depends on if I fix the lag issues. For some reason, there is consistent lag spikes that can cause the game to freeze every four or five minutes.
Some progress on fixing the issue. I reduced render distance and simulation distance to 8 and that reduced the length of the lag spikes. I managed to get to the surface which is in a wooded area and the measured fps fluctuated from 59 to 1, but stayed closer to 45ish. I may update further if I figure things out.
Fixed the issue. After trying a few times, I decided to check my computer. Turns out this had an impact on playing the modpack.
I traveled to the desert and raided two pyramids before finding two broken portals. I also found a village before going back with my load and building a mill.
After some more iron hunting, I finally got enough materials to build a fan and wash some gravel. I also have collected some materials needed for building a basic miner.
Built my first mining rig and some minecart rails. After this I decided to test it on the mine below my base. I also added some storage drawers for the inevitable backlog of cobblestone. I probably should invest in reconfiguring my current create setup to make gravel processing easier.
Late night final works. I reconfigured my create setup (twice) to grind cobblestone and wash the gravel. I also got more materials to add additional drills to my drilling machine, and continued mining out the space below my current location.
Continued mining with my mining rig. I may need to check my systems again as I am getting some lag spikes.
After a small panic where my computer seemed to crash, I managed to get it up and running again. I then spent some time building up my mining rig and mining out under my base. I also crafted some more rails so that I could mine for longer stretches.
Some late night mining at y13 uncovered a ravine. After this I continued expanding the drill.
I built a saw and started clearing out trees at my base. I also built a backtank, a diving helmet, and engineer's goggles. Afterwards I kept mining in search of a lava source to go deeper, but I think I need to head to a lava lake instead. There are two nearby that I could probably use to my advantage.
Nether trip. Opened up to soul sand valley and a crimson forest. I collected quartz and netherrack while avoiding hoglins and skeletons. After that I crafted an empty blaze burner, a shematic table, a shcematicannon, and some empty schematics.
woooo getting that blaze burner is a turning point in what you can make in create. Good progress
True, but I just entered the nether. I am not even close to a nether fortress and my map does not show me much. I am thinking that I should try building some cobble slab bridges using a schematicannon. While I do have the mining rig, I do not want to risk breaking it in the nether.
I created a schematic for a cobblestone slab bridge and created a storage drawer of slabs to take with me to the nether. I then traveled to the portal to enter the nether, only to be disturbed by two ghasts that broke the portal twice. I made an executive decision and fled back to the overworld to heal up.
Returned to the nether to start building a cobble slab bridge. Accidentally got an achievement due to a ghast spawning beside me. I managed to bridge a fair distance, scout a lava pool, shield the nether portal, and return to the overworld alive. I decided to mine out more underground and tried to take on an enderman (lag spike prevented seeing my death at reasonable fps).
Due to breaking the bread I slept on, I ended up at the origin point, and traveled back to my base. I found an interesting view on the way back.
Can I just say how much I appreciate the deathscreen in the montage It really helps bring in the feels of the early game struggle and successes.
Thanks. To be frank this is the first time I tried staying in one difficulty setting.
I continued mining, digging around y10 to find more diamonds. I also decided to invest in the equipment for a tree farm, expanded my farm plot, and upgraded my create system with bigger waterwheels and a smoker.
nice progress
Some late night mining at y10. Took a picture to commemorate progress.
Woah! You are so industrious. I am in awe!
I have not even collected a blaze yet. Its just manual track laying. I am planning on visiting the nether again on my next visit.
Oooh, hope you have safe travels into the nether!
Visited the nether, expanded the defenses at the nether portal, and added some more to the cobble slab bridge. I left due to lag and did not think it was possible to fall out of the world, but it happened. I went back to my boat (avoiding some beach mobs) and returned to my base with the schematicanon, schematic table, building supplies, and some more netherrack.
Made some new schematics and revisited the nether. Bulit out the bridge about 250 blocks from the portal before going back to restock cobble slabs. I also made new blueprints for stairs and 4-way intersections. Basically, I am printing a cobble fortress to travel through the nether. I also made some storage upgrades to store more cobble slabs.
Continued working on nether projects, expanding my kelp farm in the meantime. I managed to cross a lava ocean and reach the other side with my cobble tunnel. I went back to the overworld to craft more pickaxes since I am printing over resources.
Continued nether project. Built another schematicannon and made a new schematic to increase production. Died due to a piglin because they were upset when I mined out gold in front of them. Collected my stuff and continued printing until I ran out of gunpowder. I may need to spend some time outside the nether to get more gunpowder.
Good news, bad news, worse news. Continued working in the nether and saw something good on the minimap. Unfortunately, a bug caused me to keep walking while paused and I did not know until i drowned in lava. Due to a moment of weakness, I cheated to get back my stuff, which included my mining machine.
can't say I blame you. Deaths from bugs feel like they deserve a refund.
yea, agreed.
Laggy but managed to get to the nether fortress. Tried to move a blaze spawner to no avail, so I just collected blazes and ran back home.
I am also thinking if the lag continues I may need to try something else.
Started brass production, planted a mechanical saw to semi-automate log processing, and finally upgraded my mining rig to place blocks and rails. I also expanded the drill size and added more storage.
As an aside, the build appears much better now, so I think I will continue working with this until it gives out for good.
I had to tweak my mining machine a bit, but I now have an automated mining machine and dug some more underground. I also smelted enough copper ingots in my new blasting area to make a stack of copper blocks. I also found a waystone on my travels to get the lava source and decided to start making a waystone location on the nearby beach.
I finished building the waystone structure on the beach and continued mining below. I also upgraded my mining machine to deposit high-volume items into a storage drawer. I also took the time to reorganize the items I stored.
Decided to mine a little deeper as diamonds do not spawn until you reach negative height. I mined a few areas, found some caves and a mineshaft, and went back up to clear space for a tree farm.
Cleared out an area, filled in some water hazards, and built a starter tree farm. I also did some more deep level mining, found some loot crates, and discovered (because I am cowardly) that mimics spawn in peaceful.
What do you mean, mimic? Is it like the Mimic Dweller mod?
For some reason, mimic chests spawned in my world even in peaceful. I do not have that mod in my modpack, but I think it was copied over from the mod files I copied.
This is from Quark I believe.
That is an underground campsite from Quark, and I think its cause unlike other mobs its not an active entity at first.
