It would appear that you have to use a gem before it becomes pinnable in the left nav. It would be nice to be able to pin and unpin gems from the Gems manager page (as well as in the left nav).

Windows -> Chrome -> 2.5 Flash. I can pin the Premade by Google gems from the Gems manager page, but not My Gems. 🙂
