I know a bit of LUA and a fair bit of Python and i've got 100+ hours in blender but i've never worked with unity and I tried to follow this guide https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Tutorial:Making_an_asset_from_start_to_finish (with the newest version of unity given that 4.2.2 is broken) but after step-9/10 it really falls apart in tems of how to actually implement a part into the game, I have no idea if i've done anything past modeling and texturing correctly

would anyone be willing to point me to a guide that works for KSP 1.12.5 in Q4 2024

This may be a better question for a ksp1 modding server. This one is for ksp2.
But I'd try checking out a newer version of parts tools

Looks like the correct unity version is Unity 2019.4.18f1
