As title says, I have far more mods installed than what is actually being loaded by spacewarp.

Will do. I'll post updates later today.
Fresh install of KSP 2, deleting old KSP 2 folder, and fresh install of spacewarp + mods fixed it
thanks
Must have been some leftover files from SpaceWarp 0.3 or earlier

@twin birch really need to add something to comfix for that
Yeah, definitely
confirmed the fix that TypicalSim posted works. Game saves useless data in save files which kills loading times
for reference:
well cant post 1.55 GB but removing all the event saves fixed my save and i can load in
performance is also improved by doing that
made a new video off what he had said with a twist
Yeah, that bug was reported in the early days of EA. https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/213816-the-mysterious-case-of-the-exploding-save-file-clue-its-90-travellogdata/
For a while my save files were a few around 1 MB, then they were 2-is (briefly) then 3, then 4, 5, 6, 11, 10(?), 24, and then suddenly 64 MB! This after just a few days of play. During this time I've got a small number of craft flying and I've been cleaning up debris so that should be an issue. I...
Yeah, it really kinda messes with any play style in sandbox that's more than a few missions. I just work around it by starting lots of new campaigns and making those for specific missions. No continuity.
also testing out if i can change my flag within the save file
I agree with @barren oxide and @twin birch, this would be a good candidate for community fixes. I've not heard anything from IG that they have any plans to fix this. I see no damage in just deleting the bloat. Maybe modify the game save so that the unneeded sections re just deleted on save?
that goes beyond my knowledge on how to do
but im sure theyll figure out a community fix for it
If IG ever owns up to an actual use for this crud, we can treat it differently - but it's just useless. It's gotta be a bug.
Ideally we'd find out the reason why it gets duplicated and bloated in the first place
And stop it at the source, rather than just cleaning up the save files after the fact
Agree! That would be best
me and @twin birch are working on tons of other projects, even tho its an easy fix our time is limited. but since its a community project anyone can create and add the fix to the project.
Yeah, I saw how you made the community fixes mod modular in that way. Good work!
thank munix he did most of the work on it.
This would definitely be the first thing I take a look at when I finish the SpaceWarp UI and update the project templates, if nobody else does until then
Credit goes to TypicalSim. I thought I had a corrupted save file. Turns out the game just saves things terribly.
I did this myself and it saved my save. I also noticed a massive boost in performance. The modders are aware and will be working to fix this.
I also will be sharing with the dev's to see if they can fix this in patch 2.
Cheers!
theres my take on it, shows before edit and then after editing the .json on performance
Yeah, it's really a game breaking bug for anyone that wants continuity in EA sandbox. My workaround is not an OK thing for those folks
I'm not sure I'd advertise this as a "massive performance fix". There are lots of folks out there who struggle with performance issues due to GPU limitations on their HW. What you've got is a fix for those who's performance has degraded due to save file bloat.
this is true, but typing a thumbnail that says "performance fix for save bloat" doesn't get clicks to view the video
so clickbaity to bring viewers in but also provide solid advice on it
and keeping thumbnails short in verbiage is key with YT
ive been yelled at by peoples on the internets before. i appreciate the insight and advice though ❤️ if you have a better title idea im all ears
how to remove ksp 2 bloatwear
🍿
confirmed you can change your flag on a previous save if you have custom-flags installed
👍 cool
the steps to replicate...
