maybe we shouldnt suggest DID if we dont know anything about their past /info /gen
mayhap, mention ur symptoms to a therapist or psychologist. cause these symptoms can be multiple things, not just DID. let a professional help you
raine essay time
I was thinking it was my ADHD causing the memory problems but I wouldn't know for certain.
I mean it definitely could be!!
definitely consult with a professional as nobody here is qualified to diagnose you
(ofc there's nothing wrong with using "we" or "us" even if you dont have DID)
and even if they are, they are not having active psychological sessions with you
that too, if it makes you feel more comfortable, just do it
My advice here is:
Please do not listen to anyone here saying you have a dissociative disorder. I do not mean this to be dismissive, I am saying this because what you describe can be caused by many different things. Dissociation is not DID/OSDD exclusive, and nobody here should ever try to armchair diagnose you a severe traumagenic disorder.
DID/OSDD develops only within a specific timeframe due to repeated childhood abuse or neglect. It is not something you spontaneously develop in adulthood or as a teenager.
Loss of time, memory disturbances, and dissociation can be caused by a wide range of things such as simply stress to depression to autism to ADHD to PTSD etc. DID/OSDD should be the LAST thing you consider, not the first.
I urge you to talk to a professional about this as nobody on Discord can know what you’re going through for sure. And especially with dissociative disorders, you cannot know you have one with 100% certainty unless you work with a therapist/psychologist. I hope you can find the help you need for real, everyone deserves help!!!
I enjoy using plural pronouns because I have multiple identities and I'm trying to refer to all of them.
you took the words from my mouth
I will say, as someone who is dissociative, that having DID or OSDD is not just about having multiple identities or names. It is much more complex than that. You can simply just be a guy who likes multiple names. It doesn’t inherently mean you are dissociative, if it helps any
That makes sense to me!
Indeed! There are tons of dissociative disorders that don't effect your identity :D
Ya there are some that don’t have alters really
I will talk to a therapist, or psychiatrist to help figure this out more, but it definitely could simply be my ADHD and I was worried for nothing!
Thank you Raine!
mb, y'all. it was late at night, and for some reason I was thinking DID caused memory loss? I wasn't really thinking all the way through there.
It can, but it’s not the only thing that does.
It’s alright, just please don’t do it again
