My cousin keeps on deadnaming me even though she knows my preferred name and I'm scared to correct her

i know its hard to speak up, especially when youre scared of how someone might react but she knows your name and keeps choosing not to use it, that isnt okay

U can always say it directly like "hey that isnt my preferred name, quit calling me that" or tell them how it makes u feel getting deadnamed wheter it hurts u or annoys u, im sure they'll understand if u address it correctly

Thank you for this it's really hard because I know she tries her best but I'm scared if I try " push it onto her " she'll get angry and just switch up on me and go full transphobia mode if that makes sense

yeah that totally makes sense, but if shes actually trying her best, then a gentle reminder shouldnt push her into full transphobia mode and if it does, thats not on you. thats js her showing her true colors

remember asking someone to use your real name isnt “pushing” anything. Thats the bare minimum she can do if she really cares about you
