i am relatively newish to this game so i cant speak much on the odds. im also not the developer, but i do get the feel that some of the items are "weighted chance". but i could be wrong, RNG can be very odd at times also.
also i have had similar luck to you and i also run the game a long many hours a day. i do feel like the system can be improved to be more easy, at the moment i feel like im just grinding duplicate grays. but we aren't exactly competing against others and everyone relatively has the same experience. some choose marketplace which seems decently cheap to get what i would want.
as for autumn items, they have heard the feedback and mentioned they will discussed it internally for next event, hope things improve also. this halloween event you got to choose 1 out of 3 beautiful costumes, which i love that approach.

the thing is... when you have it open at least 20 hrs a day it gets so frustrating to a point to only get duplicates after more than 1000 hrs totall.. that the possibility to loose intresst in bongo cat is really high !
