Hello there everyone! Aztro here.

If you're reading this, I assume you're a complete beginner and new to Cursorcursor, you must've heard of the term "Vibe Coding", and I believe many people might have had some misconception on what it really this. That's why I wrote this post myself to give a brief and concise introduction on what Vibe Coding is and what Cursor has to do with it.

What is Vibe Coding?

Vibe Coding is basically a more relaxed, AI-assisted way of programming where you describe what you want in plain language, and AI tools help turn those ideas into code. Instead of focusing on writing every line manually, the developer focuses more on the overall idea, functionality, and creative direction.

For example, someone could say:

“Make me a simple portfolio website with smooth animations and a dark theme.”

An AI tool can then generate a large part of the code automatically.

It's become popular because it makes prototyping and building projects much faster, especially for beginners or solo developers. However, it still helps to understand programming fundamentals, since AI-generated code can sometimes be inefficient, buggy, or incomplete.

In short, Vibe Coding is less about typing every line yourself, and more about guiding AI to help you build software.

What is Cursor and how does it relate to Vibe Coding?cursor

Cursor is an AI-powered code editor based on VS Code that lets developers write and edit code using natural language prompts. Instead of manually coding everything, users can ask Cursor to generate features, fix bugs, explain code, or build parts of a project directly inside the editor.

This is why Cursor is strongly connected to “Vibe Coding” a programming style focused more on ideas and creative direction, while AI helps handle much of the actual coding process.
