If I understand it correctly, you're looking for Auto-Run:
Cursor Settings → Agents → set Auto-Run to Auto-Run in Sandbox.
About the "taking longer than expected", try changing the HTTP version in the settings
Settings > Network. Try 1.1 or 1.0.
Also, a recent update made Cursor more "Self-aware". You can ask this type of questions directly to the chat itself
