I believe that is the case, yes. It's a community event, a lot of servers were invited to participate in it. I don't think you can get more than one entry, but I didn't read the entire T&C. Maybe I'll go ahead and do that now.

I think it’s rather shitty to have alliance or horde automatically attached to us, I hope that doesn’t carry over to this server

A taste in aesthetics isn’t going to show whether someone is alliance, horde or neutral. Especially with how diverse the races on other factions are

Wildhammer dwarves might like a rugged rough aesthetic, both elf races on the horde night prefer fancier vibes and then you have the races available to both factions such as dracthyr or pandaren

The alliance and horde roles should be something we choose, preferably opt in and preferable with the option to have both or to have a neutral option

It's supposed to be assigning you the role in this server, yes, but that bot doesn't appear to be working and I've let their team know. Once this campaign ends I'll just be deleting the roles so it's not permanent either way. Thanks for inquiring!

Why did you guys attach horde and alliance roles to this survey rather then make it something people can directly choose?

It would however be nice to have cosmetic roles in this server

Like “horde, alliance, or neutral” or roles for races and classes. Especially since wow is a game where player character identity is very important

Regardless though, thanks for passing along info. If you do anything like this in the future, I’d be careful with how you handle roles. You don’t want to force an alliance role onto a horde player or vice versa
