It should be in the main window instead of a separate one unless you have an addon which is making new windows. You can right click on a chat window > settings then adjust what messages and text appear in what window.

right click general -> settings -> everything is ✅ except voice chat transcription
it still opens a new window when someone types to me

Hmm I would almost disable addons and then try and see if it still happens. I know there were addons in the past that made that happen but I haven't experienced it happening without addons. Maybe someone else might have some more insight you could try asking in #wow-help more help people look at that than this channel.
