New players will always start in exiles reach, if you decided to start a dh or dk you cannot start in the same zone

As they have their own respective levelling area

Once they reach, level 10 they will complete the island and be sent to their major city

If you started an allied race they start in orgrimmar/stormwind

If I remember correctly, You’ll have to finish all the quests in the area you’re in before going for another spot on the scouting map.

I think all storyline quests. If you open the map, there should be at least one yellow exclamation mark on the map, those are storyline quests and you will have to complete those. If there isn’t, but there is on the minimap, those are side quests and you don’t have to worry about them too much.

If anything, side quests can become world quests later on.

The wowhead client only tracks your game play - it doesn't help you find things in game.

I think an addon that people use to find things is called "All The Things".

To install an addon I recommend to download the software called wowup.io and then use the addon search there to install addons.

in TBC there was a tab with the pet info, happiness, stats, diet etc.

If you’re levelling to 60 and not intending on gearing etc straight away it’s not a big deal levelling with a covenent cause you can easily swap it later

And naturally if you geared and wanted to maximise your spec in later patches, depending on changes you’ll have to swap covenent anyway

really doesnt matter so go what you feel tbh - Engi has practical use and Alchemy makes certain potions last longer, aside from that its just money making (though those two do make money too)

can go for combinations like Mining+Herb if you like gathering, i guess something like Herb+Alchemy works too but eh. Mage is pretty good at killing a lot of shit so you can go Skinning well too

the professions are pretty much just money making. you could go something like Alchemy or Tailoring to make things that benefit your character, then again you could just do anything else and buy said things off the AH

well so far i have to say i prefer TBC to Retail. I have levelled a character to level 22 in both, starting with TBC (after recommendation from my brother). TBC feels so much more rewarding when it comes to loot and progression. Retail is a bit more "instant", it throws gold after you and mounts are available early. Also there's no inflation in TBC so the auction house makes sense and is appropriate and feels more accessible and rewarding to a new player.

Retail has more QoL improvements and is a bit more instant fun, but if you don't mind the grind, i like TBC for sure. Haven't yet tried the real "classic" version though!

in TBC today i had my first real adventure, went on a hike and had my first pvp encounters in the wild while chasing a pet for my hunter. it was a lot of fun

While Classic has a very high focus on the actual leveling Retail is heavily cvatered towards endgame

i started a new Orc Hunter on retail last night and reached the same level as my TBC hunter in just one night whereas i've been working on my TBC hunter for 2 weeks

Yeah, levelling is kinda a thing back then. its challenging

retail its like twenty hours tops to get into shadowlands content, then you do a few questlines and start m+. game doesnt really start until you kinda get into that m+ / raiding area

so if you want to give Retail a fair chance you should consider leveling to 50 - or even 60 if you want to buy Shadowlands

the loot is nicer as well in TBC, suddenly you might get a armor 34 drop with an enchantment whereas in Retail you'll just get +1 armor from what you're currently wearing, there's no real fun loot to find grinding the world quests or just messing around

you can get a lil from skirmishes and weeklys but most comes from rated

gaining more experience and gear will definitely be helpful, although you may learn your defensives, when to use them correctly will come with playing the spec in m+

theres a chance you might also be not dodging some abilities properly, or not having enough interrupts in your group to stop some scary casts going off

if youre running m+ above a 5 this week youll be dealing with necrotic which is a very nasty tank dot if you dont know how to deal with it well, or you rely on self heals like a dk or druid
