The further up in Upgrade levels you go, the more ridiculous they get, though
I looked it up, and I think they nerfed the pricetags for the Heirloom Casings, actually. The BFA-Level Weapon Upgrade (So 50) only costs 7.5k Gold, now.

It just doesn't give you the tutorial that all other classes get, pretty much.
If you really want the tutorial, you can make a different character, go through Exile's Reach on that, and then start your Demon Hunter.

Like, I hope you find the motivation you need to do the content that provides the rewards you want, but you have to do the content required for the reward if you want the reward. Just be thankful you're not unlocking the content when it was originally new and live. You've got many catch-up mechanics added and former limits removed, making it easier to unlock now than ever before

Technically you more or less need exalted to unlock Nightborne, and getting void elves or lightforged draenei requires completion of the entire Legion and Argus campaigns

it helps you figure things out
when you finish that area (level 10 or 11) you'll automatically start the BFA campaign

@brisk folio for raids, once you hit 50 you can go back and solo older raids pretty easily. Bfa raids are item level locked and you need to either queue for them or have a premade for them.
For example, I did The Eye last week and was doing 100k damage on one of my weakest abilities to everyone there, so it's super easy.

given azerite pieces are common quest rewards in BFA

Note above - you get the Magni quest for the neck once you obtain an azerite piece. If you're leveling in BfA, I imagine when you get one through a story quest, you'll get the quest to visit Magni

try relogging,if that doesnt work,keep questing in bfa
they should eventually reward you with azerite armor
once that happens,equip it and it should give quest
i think your problem spawned from azerite armor being sellable to vendors since the latest patch(before it was unsellable)
