@unkempt fossil Speaking as one who raided from Crota in D1 through to Last Wish, some things in WoW are more complicated, some things are more simple - WoW mechanics do at least give you a clue instead of Destiny's 'you either google or guess' - and in my experience it'll leave you wondering why people don't do mechanics sometimes lul

WoW raids sometimes pick up the slack on difficulty due to not having Destiny's difficulty-through-obscurity

but it's a mixed bag, there's plenty of fights harder than Aksis hard and on the flip side there's some people I know who'd struggle with king's fall doors

generally, WoW raids spread the responsibility of 6 over 20-40 so that's about what you can expect

What class should I play/Is this class the best?
WoW's classes are balanced well to the extent that your own skill will make up 97% of your capability. Class picking is only relevant for the highest levels of content. Go with what you like, and learning it will get you where you want.

What realm should I pick?
If you already have friends playing the game, you should ideally try to be on the same realm as them - however, if you cannot this isn't too much of a problem, as being on the same realm only allows you to trade and join the same guild. If these aren't a problem, being on any realm in the same region (US/EU/Oceanic) will do.

If you do not have friends already playing and thus don't mind what realm you pick, generally any will do - Realms are split into RP (roleplay) and normal realms, and have varying population and horde:alliance split. It would be advisable to target a medium-high population realm (full simply means you may have a queue to log in) so you can better find guilds and a stable player economy. Many population trackers such as https://www.wowrealmpopulation.com/ exist, however many of these are somewhat outdated due to being broken by Blizzard.

I have a boost, should I use it?
It is heavily advised to not boost the first character you play - this will send you straight into the current expansion and expect you to follow the story, play your class, and do max level dungeons - as will other players around this level. If you do not understand your class, the mechanics of the game, or have an expectation as to how modern dungeon mechanics work, you will likely be lost. It is better to level up your first character naturally and learn the game, and possibly use your boost on a second character.

What's the difference between retail and classic WoW?
'Retail' WoW is the game as it stands in 2020, with new content being added. Classic WoW is a rerelease of the base game as it was in 2006. Due to the game changing over time, these two versions could reasonably be called different games. Classic features more RPG and character building gameplay elements and more punishing gameplay, where Retail features more polished content and quality of life changes. Classic WoW is included in the subscription cost to Retail.

How does my class work? What gear should I use?
While leveling in retail WoW, gear stats will be largely irrelevant - take the item with the highest item level and the relevant main stat for your specialization (strength/intellect/agility). You can find guides for your particular class from Wowhead here: https://www.wowhead.com/classes

What professions should I pick?
Professions aren't usually a game changer. In both Retail and Classic, you can learn 2 'primary' professions of your choice, and the additional 3 of fishing, archaeology and cooking. It is generally advisable to pick one crafting profession you like, and then the gathering profession that makes it self-sufficient (herbalism/alchemy, mining/blacksmithing). It should be noted that armorcrafting professions will likely be more practical use in Classic than Retail.

What race should I pick?
Race choice is a miniscule factor affecting your gameplay capability. Some races do work slightly better with certain classes (slightly more so in Classic) but if you're not concerned about finding the 1% more damage, it's best to pick what you like.

What faction should I pick?
Your faction choice affects the story you will experience in the game. Choose carefully, but it will not affect your ability to achieve goals.

Yes, kind of. Orc is horde, so it would be difficult to get to the Draenei (Alliance) area. But you can still do it.

The server only really affects the players that you are around. Every server has the same world/map. And once you get to higher levels (or just explore more), you can go to many more zones with different scenery, enemies, etc

That's the Magni questline, unrelated to the Horde Campaign.

However iirc, you will have to complete Uniting the Isles, meaning you need friendly with Nazmir, Vol'Dun and Zuldazaar.

hey question, I stopped using ElvUI because it was buggy and I didnt know how to configure special vehicle action keybinds

but one thing I miss

is how, it had a feature where when you'd interact with a vendor, it would automatically sell all of your grey items unless they were reagents that had to do with your professions

and I'm wondering if there are good addons that let you auto sell like that

or if its maybe a normal WoW feature
