Here's a bit of a weird one, if anyone cares to comment: Where does this practice of changing the A and D keys on the keyboard to strafe left and right as opposed to the default of turning left and right? Was there some PC game that had that as a default and people just got used to it? In my case, wow was my first PC game, so A and D being turn left and right has always felt more natural to me than strafing. If I want to strafe I have Q and E just one row up 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you’re playing horde, although factions aren’t super important, Draenor, Kazzak, Tarren Mill and Twisting Nether are the larger pop horde realms

Before, yes, there would have been a disadvantage as you may have struggled finding people to play with on Alliance side. Now? Find a guild that is cross-faction and it should eliminate that worry. As for race, choose whatever appeals to you. Race bonuses are more for flavor than impactful

If it was an important quest, it'd show up on your map. Otherwise, the BTWQuest addon (with BFA module) will graph out the quest chains and be able to show you where you fell off

Greetings! During the Shadowlands expansion, a broker at Oribos used to give 2 weekly quests for 2 dungeons which rewarded reputation. Do we have anything similar in Dragonflight?? whats the npc name so i can google it. Thank you

For gold, you might be referring to Dragon racing World Quests. They only require you to complete the race.

You could look over the Gold Calculator page from the Data for Azeroth website and get a rough estimate of the gold that a raid has been giving. They list out rough estimates and you can check off the raids you want to do, plug in how many characters will run them and how much gold you are looking to receive and it gives you an estimate of how long it will take to reach your goal.

once you get to 60 you can only ever queue for bfa, if you want to q for shadowlands, outside of timewalkng events, i think you have to go into chromie time, but if you hit 60 inside chromie time (i.e. if you don't lock xp at 59) you'll be forced out of chromie into present time and asked to buy dragonflight

yeah im surprised you see anything in the chat. usually you would open bugsack (by clicking its minimap icon) and one of the first lines in the error log it displays should contain the culprits name which would be the addon to delete/disable

I have an issue with the addon autoflood. It worked perfectly up until yesterday when it suddenly decided it won't send messages automatically anymore. It just froze then remembered to send it once I clicked anywhere on the screen or moved my character. If I am doing nothing, standing still and afk, it won't work anymore.
Not talking about the "You're afk" status, I mean literally if I wasnig moving or clicking it wouldn't send. Even if it's set to a 15 sec interval and I stood still for only those 15 seconds. No message, but message gets sent as soon as I click the screen.

is there anyone here who knows how to completely change the font in WoW? Since Dragonflight, the "Fonts" folder has updated and there are "Slug" files inside. If you delete them and replace your font file with the known names in the usual way, WoW automatically creates new slug files with the default font after a startup. Does anyone know a solution? I do not want to install ElvUI or anything else.

I have custom fonts in wow for me but it only works on certain assets like unit bars on enemies and chat frames. most other fonts are their factory defaults and I don't know of a way to change them.

it's a set of addons that tend to do it generally and most other wow addons will share compatibility with the ones in question, im not in front of my computer to look at the addons I have but I want to say they're called sharedmedia fonts/libfonts I believe. there's a classic one with some amount of styles then other ones. I have 3 or 4 different font addons so I have like 50 I can pick from for use in other addons like kui nameplates and chatter, they are also supported in trp3 for hp bars at least as well as tooltips when mousing over people

miks scrolling battle text also supports such custom fonts for repurpose of normal notifications along with criticals, each are seperate toggles.

Players are also able to join cross-faction raid groups for instanced endgame content since Shadowlands and since the last patch cross-faction membership is also available for guilds

hi, new player here that took an interest in the game after watching a couple of videos
I enjoy "doing things properly" and that's where I get my fun, I have a few questions to start working on my main:

  • My main goal is to explore all the PvE content (hopefully all the way to the hardest content) and be part of a nice group through a guild. After some research, I figured creating a horde character in Realm Dentarg, Tarren Mill is my best bet. Is this a good choice for my goals?

  • What combination of horde race, class and spec has historically done well in raids and is most often guaranteed a spot? I very much enjoy playing meta and I'd love to be so useful that I'm integrated in a raid group immediately any time I log on. It wouldn't be bad to know an option for every role (dps, tank, healer).

  1. By "doing things properly" and "exploring all PvE content", do you mean that you plan on working your way thru all the expansions in order? That's a steep way to play, as WoW has many old factions that are truly all about the grind and the time sink. However, if completionism is your goal (or at least the Loremaster title), I recommend the addon BtWQuests--the main addon + whatever expansion module you happen to be working thru (BC, WotLK, Cata, etc), as it gives you a zone-by-zone breakdown of all questlines in an expansion. Extremely helpful. If you can handle something more intense, I also recommend All The Things, which shows you everything that can be collected in game based on your faction, race, & class. Both addons are found on Curseforge.
  2. As Gumball has stated above you: "All race, class, and spec combinations are viable for all forms of content and the best one is going to be the one you're better at playing and enjoy the most." Keep in mind that if you choose to be a tank, you'll be expected to know how every fight operates for all dungeons & raids, no matter how old (as Timewalking keeps old stuff somewhat relevant), healers will be blamed for not keeping party members alive even if said party members were actively Standing In Bad (tm) and dps are a dime a dozen. Find what works for you--there's Class Trials available for you to be able to play around without investing too much time or effort. Keep in mind that as classes are rebalanced every patch, there's always gonna be a "flavor of the month" class. Don't fall into the trap of believing you need to have one of everything in order to be prepared. Stick with what's comfortable.

To add on to this--as far as content goes, the best way to go about doing things is to take your time figuring out what class and spec vibes with you most and then leveling through the default recommended content (the Exile's Reach starting tutorial zone and then the Battle for Azeroth leveling zones of Zandalar or Kul Tiras 10-60), catching up to the current expansion's patch content, and then doubling back to do old stuff once you're leveled and geared and won't "lag behind" as new content rolls out

I'd also recommend avoiding Death Knights, Demon Hunters, and Evokers as your first class as these "hero classes" have their own unique starting experience that doesn't serve as a proper tutorial for the game itself

For classes that can fill out all three party roles you want to look at Druids, Paladins, and Monks

can someone explainto me how the upgrade discounts work? Sometimes i find upgrading something costs no crests, only flintstones. Other times i see them still costing me crests as usual despite me having a higher ilvl piece already?
For example i have a seal of questionable loyalty (ring) on Hero track, at 5/5, 441 ilvl. That's the max.
And i have another ring, Eternal Sentry's Ring, also Hero track, 1/5, 428 ilvl. Upgrading this costs me a crest each step as usual.

Ok, but earlier today i had two gloves in a similar situation. I had a 4/5 Hero glove, and i got from vault a 441 glove, unupgradable (but equivalent ilvl to a 5/5 hero ilvl). The 4/5 glove suddenly became discounted to upgrade and i didn't need an aspect crest to make it 5/5.

I don't get it.

If you've got a higher item level in a slot, an item shouldn't cost Crests to upgrade up to that level.
If you have a higher ilvl items in the slot on any character, upgrading to that level will cost less flightstones.

Rings, Trinkets, and 1h/offhand need both of the items you have to be higher level.

Yup rings and trinkets need both slots to have reached the higher point to qualify for the discount. And equipping them to both slots (swapping the item into each slot doesn’t work anymore like it used to for itmlvl trading

If you're starting out it may take you quite some time to afford a token--the best goldmaking comes from current content and requires a little more time and knowledge experience overall--while it's possible to do so, it's not really probable for most people and if you're focusing on grinding the gold more than playing the game it can burn someone out. Focus on the game first and getting caught up with current content

You either continue through Legion until 45, then switch to Battle for Azeroth to 60, or you go to Battle for Azeroth now.

That's pretty much your options for your first character.

Anything you do before 60 is going to be pretty irrelevant to your character power, so do the artifact weapons and class hall if you want. There's always cosmetic rewards there.

Yeah, don't worry about Shadowfang keep on your first character. You won't be able to queue for it, and you'd have to make a pre-made group to do it. If you've got 4 friends, great. If not, just keep on going through Zuldazar/Kul Tiras.
